OK guys, yall have been way to much inspiration for me.  I really like the look of the SIR system.  Is the commercial version easy for a someone with little gunsmith knowledge to install?  I like the tricked out look.

Any recommendations for a good AR building reference guide, gunsmith guide, or something along those lines.  I don't want to get in over my head, but the smaller stuff I could surely learn.

Thanks

Troy is right!!!!!!!!!  The civie version is as easy as it gets.  No more difficult to install  than it is to remove your upper and bolt carrier group for cleaning!  FWIW..The "C" model is no less a unit than the "M" version.

I was nervous the first time putting one on too. Figured something that looks like that had to be a hard install. I was wrong. It will take you longer to read the directions than to install the system.

Thats right but my stupid yoke was really tight and won't fit because of some tension from delta ring. Anyway, it is now installed any is REAL tight, nothing moves or flexes.

After you put it on, you'll wonder why you ever looked at the instructions.  The SIR is definitely a fine piece of hardware and you'll find it useful.  The yoke piece was the hardest part until I remembered to get my handguard remover to hold the delta ring back.  [banghead]

I saw on one of the old posts that the average price on an SIR was 378.  All I can find is 500.  Anyone have a line on the lesser price?

Thanks for the advice so far

The SIR retails for $399 just about everywhere you look.

I am 100% inept at mechanical stuff.  That said I built my own AR.  Every pin, barrel, screw and nut was installed by me.  Its the best built AR I have seen with the exception of my mushrooming the roll pins a bit to get em to seat all the way.  If you just get an armorers manual and the necessary parts you can do ANYTHING with an AR if you have an IQ over 100.

My advice... go all out and get an M version and learn to install and uninstall the barrel.  Once you do it you will wonder what all your worring was about.

What is up with the SIR for carry handle AR's?
Who has them, does anyone know? I saw them at the SHOT show, but no word since. Anyone have pics? Can you post them? Thanks, Jason.

Yojimbo,
Do you like the ARMS #50 better than the #45?

Do they make the #50 in the Military Version?

Thanks..
