I had a preban Oly Arms lower that I wanted to put a less-expensive but good quality upper onto.  I wanted an M4A2 profile with M4 handguards and new-style 6 position stock to replace the crappy factory one.  I looked into J&T and found the perfect kit, the EM-4 kit.  If I must say so, J&T's service and sales department is second-to-none.  I had the complete kit in just 3 days.  Here is a pic of my newly completed AR.

Thanks.   BTW I don't plan on adding anything else to it.  All of my other ARs have those fancy schmancy accessories, but this one won't.

Hey, Marine! Ya done good. Ve-e-e-ry nice. Simple, yet elegant. Sexy, but business like.
Chic, not gawdy........Man, I sweat every time I see that M4 profile. Let the good times roll!!

Yes the barrel is definitely chrome-lined.  My flash hider is a plain jane A2 birdcage.  I have a vortex FS on my Colt Sporter but I will probably put a phantom on this one pretty soon.

MarineNP, I'm really interested in the J&T stuff.  How would you rate it compared to a Bushy (or Colt, Armalite or RRA for that matter)?

Here's what I have in mind.  I want an AR "truck gun."  If I'm reading the J&T catalog correctly, I can get a 16" carbine kit for $434.  Add a stripped lower for another ~$100 and I've got a decent "truck AR" for less than $550.  For some reason I can't see throwing a Bushy in the back of my truck to be banged around, but I'm cool with the idea of something of decent quality (but less expensive) getting banged around a little in my truck.

Bookhound, I haven't had time to shoot it yet because it's been pouring down rain everday here.  But I have tried to compare it with my Bushy and Colt uppers and have yet to find anything different.  It appears to be the same quality as any of the more popular brands.  I would definitely recommend a J&T kit for the price.

Here's what I found on J&T's website for this kit:

The M-4 Kit has a Mock M-4 barrel installed on the upper. The Mock M-4 barrel, is hardly a "mock" at all, as it is made by the same company that manufactures them for COLT. The only difference is that they aren't chrome-lined, and they aren't marked "C". A chrome lining gives you a longer barrel life, but, you sacrifice accuracy for the durability

The kit I ordered was the EM-4 kit which allowed you to add a chrome-lined barrel upgrade for $50.

Here is the description directly from J&T (Notice the last sentence).

The M-4 Kit has a Mock M-4 barrel installed on the upper. The Mock M-4 barrel, is hardly a "mock" at all, as it is made by the same company that manufactures them for COLT. The only difference is that they aren't chrome-lined, and they aren't marked "C". A chrome lining gives you a longer barrel life, but, you sacrifice accuracy for the durability.
