Actually, I think the M203 cut and "light under the HG" profile is what defines the M4 barrel. Otherwise, you just have a HBAR.

I was looking into a M4 style BBL because of reduced weight. As an add question to this post, for a light weight carbine, which is better, M4 BBL or fluted BBL?

And does anyone know if the M4 BBL on the RRA Entry Tactical is 16" plus muzzle break or 14.5" plus muzzle break welded on for a total of 16"?

An "M4" barrel without the GL cut, isn't an "M4" barrel anymore.

RRA doesn't carry 14.5" barrels (though their supplier does make them). A postban Entry Tactical barrel will be 16" with a faux flash suppressor pressed on over the muzzle, giving it the look of a 14.5" with FS.

An M4 barrel is lighter than a fluted HBAR.

A light weight barrel is lighter than an M4.

A barrel turned under the handguards but fluted out front is lighter than an M4 but is more rigid and cools better.
