I stopped in to checkout a new gunstore today.  I was told that they "really have good prices on ammo and guns" by several folks.  So I walked in and asked them if they sold ammo by the case and the answer was "yes"  I told them I was looking for .223 and wanted to know what they carry and told them I did not want any dirty Wolf.  They yahoo told me "we shoot Wolf all the time through our autos and silenced M16's without any problem."  I ignored that one and for giggles asked how much the case of Wolf cost.  He produced a box of 7.62x39 and told me the case was $100.  I reminded him that those "M16's" shoot .223 and so do my AR's.  He then searched around and told me that a case of Wolf ammo, 55 gr FMJ would cost, get this,......$225.  I left shaking my head and laughing as I crawled into my car and drove off vowing never to go to that place again.

Wow...thats a hell of a mark up on .223!!

Not bad at all for the 7.62x39 though seeing as you can walk in and walk out.

What kind of inventory did they have as far as guns and what were their prices?

Hey...I just hit #223

Too bad you didn't have one of these to flash in front of their faces [BS]

I agree the price was ridiculous. As far as the rest of your post goes, I will just keep quiet this time.

I will keep quiet as well, I'm hording all the wolf for Bulletfest so I can shoot it through my toys as well as a friends M16.  he shoots it all the time too and it always seems to work.  Come to think of it, I've never had an ammo related failure with any of the russian brands.  Thats about 8k rounds so far.

Wolf is fine for people who like to clean thier guns after they shoot.

My M16 failed at about 880rns.

Where in Georgia is this store? Just curious.

Some people like Wolf. I am not one of them. Everyone, let's agree to disagree and not start another tired thread about it.

Don't know about the .223 stuff, but you can get a case of Wolf 7.62x39 at any of the Eastman Gun Shows for $65-$70 including tax.

Hope that store isn't around Rome.  I'm moving up there and don't need a ripoff joint in the area[:D]

I hate it when I go into a gun shop and they think you don't know jack about weapons and ammo.

I agree... You should be able to get a case of 223 wolf for 100 bucks...  Even the 7.62 was a rip off.

I generally like to hit what I'm shooting at, so I don't use wolf.  It's not as bad with AR's as it is with my .45, but still pretty crappy.

I just completed a class last week with an AR. I shot over 1000 rounds of Wolf. No malfunctions, no lacquer issues and drilled 10 out of 10 head shots from 50 yards using my non-dominant hand and non dominant eye.

The knocks on Wolf are complete BS. Is it dirty? Maybe so, but not any more so than other cheap ammo. Are there more accurate loads? Of course. But at $94 per thousand at Sportsman's Guide, Wolf is a good deal for blasting.

This is byno means a thread to start another debate about Wolf ammo, just voicing my displeasure at being treated like a dumbass that doesn't know anything. By the way, I won't name the store, but it is in Savannah.

That's interesting.  I just attended a course in PA where we shot around 600 rounds.  Top shooter (and only one to pass the shooting test) was using Wolf.  His groups were as good or better than the rest of ours (Q3131A, SA M1A3, and Winchester 55gr SAMMI spec).  He did have a couple of issues on the 3rd day - but they looked more like magazine problems than ammo problems.

I shot over 500 rounds of another Russian ammo at LFI-I last year with zero problems out of my G22. I then shot a 297 out of 300 during the final shooting test. I missed a perfect score because of my own shooting, not because of the ammo. The key to good shooting is practice, practice, and some more practice. Wolf ammo helps this by it being a economical way to buy more ammo to practice with. [:)]

Last time I shot Wolf ammo, I have 63 FTEs, 36 FTFs, and 252 stovepipes!  I was also lucky to get a 23 MOA.  All this with a bipod in a benched position.  Of course this was with a Ruger Mini-14!

J/K [:D]  Sorry, I couldn't resist [}:D]
