The range I shoot at regularly only has 100 yards. I haven't had a chance to try the BDC at longer distances. |

Is that scope built different than US made or do you have the elevation turret on the left side and windage on the top?

Unfortunately, my pictures only show one side of the scope.

Bullet drop etc. I belive that its designed for 7.62x54R but if your only shooting at 100 yds I guess its not a problem. Im just used to using scopes at distances beyond the zero so it always kinda freaks me out when I see a dragunov/nagant scope on a 5.56 rifle. |

The bullet drop compensator (BDC) on this scope is calibrated for the .223 round, 62 gr. The BDC goes up to 800 yards, plenty of length for the 223. You are correct in that the other chevrons are not useful with 223. They are only for longer range shot aiming points beyond the maximum setting of the BDC (useless for 223).

Maybe he already had the low rings and wanted it up a little higher as well, or maybe he wanted some more rail space up front? His rail gave him all that. |

Something I noticed about that rail - it appears picatinny cut at the rear, but more like weaver cut up front. Why didn't they make the rail crosscuts at the same intervals as those on the rear??? Seems like that limits position choice up front. Strange. I wonder if that was to make the rail more rigid up front.

Hopefully, you bought the improved version with the solid pins attaching the brake. Otherwise, the (roll-pinned) brake will most likely blow off.

I bought the Swan sleeve because even with ARMS #22 high rings, the scope would not clear a #40 BUIS. The #38 was chosen because I am considering an EOTech (maybe) down the road and want to mount it forward onto something more solid than a handguard.
The current setup works pretty well for me and I don't regret the #38. As for the brake, it is still attached, but I plan to take it off when I have a chance. |

Where are you planning to shoot this beauty?
The reason I asked, is I live near Indy, and can't find a good place to shoot with any distance. 100yds at Atterbury is about the limit. BTW, the guys at PopGuns are good people to deal with. |

Just wondering, does a flashlight help with long range shots like the ones your scoped rifle is set up for? I've never tried it. I always figured a light was more for CQB type scenarios. But then again I really don't know. |

MickAR15 - I've been shooting at Fall Creek Valley Conservation Club for about six months now. Nice range and good folks. The only issue I have is that the longest range is 100 yards - but that is long enough for me to practice. You can find it on the web at [url]FCVCC.ORG[/url].
As for the flashlight - I doubt it would be useful to reach out and touch someone at a distance/CQB intended. I'll probably put an EOTech on at some point soon. I have found that the 1/7 twist seems to like heavier ammo.
