What the heck is the difference between a carbine and a non-carbine AR15???  I feel like a retard for not knowing this.  I've asked 3 different gun friends and got three different answers.

"carbine" usually just means a shorter version of the original rifle.  In this case, the original is a 20" and the carbine is the 16" or shorter.

So my 16 inch DPMS is a carbine then.
