I can’t take it anymore.  Will you people stop comparing the AK and the AR?  Different platforms using different ammunitions developed under different design philosophy for different combat and political doctrines.  Both have killed lots of people in battle.

If the AK gives you a woody while punching holes in paper or whacking some guy’s head off, get one.  I did.  If the AR does it for ya, get one.  I did.  If all else fails, you can always use a knife or take up martial arts.  I won’t (too much work and too old.)

Ignore it and maybe it will go away.

But now you have posted the topic that will start it all over again.

I have kept it alive by posting a reply.

We should be beaten with an armalite and a romanian AK. [spank][stick]

edited to add: I wonder which one would break first??? AAAAhhh there I go again.

The South Koreans got so bored with the AR vs AK debate, they made a hybrid out of the two rifles and called it the Daewoo K2. DR200 to you civies. Bolt, carrier, mag release, magazine, selector, hinged receiver, similiar sights of the AR, and more robust reliable piston gas system without the buffer, side cocking handle of the AK.

Available in both of your favorite flavors, 5.56x45 or 7.62x39.

Now, let's move on to a Mini 30 vs SKS debate, please????

How about the difference between Star Trek phasers and Star Wars laser pistols?

I'd rather have the Star Trek weapons: much more configurable, from stun to outright melt/vaporize.  All Star Wars laser weapons can do is put some light energy down-range.

Perhaps, the following:
Phaser: AR
Laser gun: AK

Any takers?

The SKS is obviously far superior to the mini 30. It's cheaper, and the Chinese version has a spike bayonet that makes a terrific frog gig.

Beg to differ, the star wars blaster can be set to different lethality form stun to kill, and the star wars weapons is several thousand years in development compared to the phaser and several hundred in star trek.

Hey what about classic bolt action military rifles. 1903A3 vs AR-15...

This topic is like shooting a dead horse over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over... and so on.

That should be 1903 vs the Mosin Nagant.

The 1903 has better sights, better bedding, and the stock is more ergonomic.  Accuracy is certainly there.

The Mosin is the strongest, most reliable, but built for poorly trained conscripts.  You can bury a Mosin in the sand...
[slap]

Oh, sorry.

Actually, the Star Trek phaser is a directed energy weapon and the Star Wars "hand blaster" fires pulses of high-temperature, concentrated gas.

The "lasers" in Star Wars are to large to be carried on one's person, and are mounted on vehicles.

I have no idea how I know this.

Well, while we are at it:

Which is better to beat someone with, a big rock or a big stick?

The stick has a long reach, but it is more likely to break...

A rock takes less training, but it is heavier...

Oh wait, you'll still beat the hell out of 'em either way...
