I don't want to sound like a broken record, call me lazy. Feel free to post it all over the place.

The president supports the renewal of the 94 aw ban, he has the power to veto, we need him on our side if we want the ban to sunset.

I just signed it.  We need to have a moderator tack this, or whatever you call it.  This is way too important.  Every member should sign this.

I went to the site and filled in all the info spaces but couldn't find the sumit button or whatever. Am I missing something, where is it hidden?

Here we go again! The ban WILL sunset. If the Congress wants to extend the ban they have to pass a new bill and send it to the president to sign. If they do not pass a bill, there is nothing for the president to sign.

Whats his "veto" power got to do with anything? What is he going to veto that would keep the ban in place?

Oh wait, I get your point. We need him to be on our side to veto a new AWB. Well that ain't gonna happen. The man said he would sign the current bill back into law and if it hits his desk and that's exactly what he will do. But the point is we don't have to have him on our side. The republicans in the house are saying it's unlikely that it will ever come up for a vote. So it will never reach his desk.

BUT POLITICIANS ARE FLAKEY SO WE NEED TO KEEP UP THE PRESSURE!!

p.s. I signed it.

While it seems as though Congress will not pass a bill extending the ban, it would be complacent of us to believe that will necessarily be the case. My guess is that Bush has signaled his support of the ban because he knows that it won't get to his desk. There is always the possibility of an even more restrictive bill being introduced. In any case, letting him know through a unified petition has no downside, as far as I can tell.

Everyone who has signed, reply with a "signed" so that we can keep this post fresh.  [:D]

I would also highly recommend joining The Federalist.  It is a free online source for Conservative news.  These guys are on our side.  There is a box to check when you sign the petition.

Signed it.

On the count of this AW Ban, this year I have hit every petition, voted every poll I know of, joined GOA, called the President's office to voice opposition, called Tom DeLay's office, called Mr. Hastert's office.
It all feels good...and that's how much I'm aggravated about the Ban and Bush's wishy-washyness.
Call those offices guys!
They really do appear interested in hearing from you and I am convinced this is most effective of all---at the very least it ties up the phone lines, which really gets the message across!
It's remarkably easy: On my calls the phone was answered before the third ring, after which you answer where you're from, state your position (comments), they say "thanks"--and that's it. Fast and easy.

I misplaced the numbers--could someone post these for others to call???

Okay here are some numbers:

Rep. Dennis Hastert:
202-225-2976
email: [email protected]

Rep. Tom DeLay:
202-225-5951
Web: [email protected]

President Bush:
202-456-1414
email: [email protected]

These are the three most important men right now whose phones need to be ringing off the hook!
Sign the petition, write, email and CALL.
Say no to Renewal.

Wife and I signed Petition 05-24-03.  Petition e-mailed to 51 friends and family.  Everyone should get this site to all their friends and family and get it signed immediately.  If new ban goes into effect, 2nd Ammendment is dead forever.
