I was interested in making a low profile gun case out of a tool box like is explained on the Maryland website.  I was wondering what kind of toolbox did you guys use and where did you get it at?  I've got a 16" barrell with coll stock.  I went by Lowes on my way home from work today and looked at their 26" boxes.  It looked really narrow and deep.  I want enough room to put the upper, lower, and some 30 round mags in there.  And one that locks is a must.  The one that I looked at really looked like the upper and lower would have to be on top of each other which I don't want that if all possiable.  Any ideas???  Thanks in advance.

Shawn

The DFW crew got ETH a Dewalt rifle. Bung & I created a custom case-- we got it to fit perfectly. Check this link for some pics. Bung might have the start to finish pics.

Oh yeah, we designed it to where the foam did not have to be removed to get to other pieces. Its about 1.5 layers, the way we stacked it. Worked great, but was really heavy. ETH doesn't use the case much, but he will if he needs to take it somewhere...

Notes:
1. the upper lays in the case upside down
2. USGI mag slots hold the mags
3. space for earplugs
4. possibly room for more mags depending on mag size and closeness of the slots.
5. A1 sized lower lays flat, with or without quick take-down pins fully open, for quick assembly.

How did the Dewalt come about? Fill us in on the gun if you will.
