I installed a Ace ARFX stock today and decided I didn't want to use the foam pad.  After seeing the wrapping job Unicron and others did, I made a change but liked their ideas.

Of course I couldn't stop there.........
Not with extra cord lying around.

Eagle Arms lower
Upper and fore grip by Dan Young
Fluted barrel
Hogue grip
The cord in front of the fore grip is to keep the handguard from seperating due to the extra leverage the fore grip added.

Hey Mike why don't you use some of that stuff to set some trip wires for your residents!

where'd you get that paracord?  it looks ... funny.  it looks more like a generic nylon cord.  the weaves look too thick.  is that just a weird artifact of the photo, or something?

Just having a little fun.  Razer wire doesn't stop them, a little paracord won't do much.

Geez, with all that cord you'd think you'd have enough for a decent keychain on there? [LOL]

Just remembering crap from my grade school days.

Looks good, but you should melt the frayed ends before they go everywhere.

If your goal was to keep your barrel hot for as long as possible, I'm sure you will be succesful. As far as answering someones elses question, that is NOT real parachute (550) cord. But yes your gun does look unique and cute. I imagine it won't last too long, or you will have a nylon snake following you around the range. Maybe you could pack some insulation under the handguard to keep the barrel even hotter next time you clean under the handguards.

Hey Slumlord

Who makes that barrel? I have never seen a fluted barrel with the M4 cut on it before.

A bit overdone in my opinion, but it is unique.
I really like the fluting on the barrel. Never seen that done before.

To answer some of the questions, no it isn't real paracord, just some nylon cord I picked up at the show.  I was just killing a couple of hours.  I like how the cord turned out on the stock.  However I think the cord over the handguard and on the foregrip will come off pretty soon.  My guess is right after they get dirty at the next range trip.

The upper and barrel come from Sog Armory, a company I came across at the gun show.
