Sorry if this a dupe. But I can't seem to use the search in here. Was wondering what the differences are between the M-16 and M-4 besides the barrel length?

Barrel length, buttstock, all M4s except the very early ones are flat-top while only the M16A4 is a flat-top.

Most M4 are full auto, the M16 is 3 shot burst, and the M4 has the notch in the barrel for the m203 grenade launcher. The M4 also has fatter oval shaped handgaurds.

False.  M4s are all have SAFE/SEMI/BURST fire-control groups.

M4A1s have the SAFE/SEMI/AUTO FC groups, and some of these also have a medium-weight barrel to hold up better to high-volume full-auto fire.

Burst and auto have nothing to do with M4 vs M16.  M4A1, M16, M16A1 and M16A3 are all auto.  M4, M16A2 and M16A4 are burst.
