Do you use CLP on the Bolt's in your AR15's or some other kind of oil?

I follow the -10 completely for lubrication on all my AR's, and CLP is the ONLY lube I use... It's the only lubricant you need...

I use both CLP and Miltec-1, but I have a question for those who only use CLP, isn't it too thin, for example like Breakfree?

CLP is pretty Thin to be the only oil on the Bolt?

I use a combo of Miltec and CLP. Miltec is used primarily on the bolt.

I use Break Free CLP on mine. I will probably try FP-10 and Miltec in future.

when you guys say you use miltec on the bolt, do you mean the miltec lube or the grease? do you cover the bolt in it(if its grease) or just certain parts on the bolt?

Breakfree CLP mostly but I use FP-10 on everything else I own. I've tried FP-10 on the ar, but don't see any difference. I can get brekfree cheaper and in an aerosol can, so that works for me on the long gun.

Anything that's handy[:D]. I know that there are a lot of folks on the site who claim that their ARs won't operate on anything but one or another type of lube, but my own experience (25+ years worth) is that a properly built AR with properly built parts will run on just about anything, or even nothing.

I'm not talking about the jungles of Viet Nam here, or the sands of the Sahara; just the average temperate conditions found in most of the USA. I certainly have no quarrel with anyone's use of anything they feel is good for their rifle. It's just that my own experience doesn't indicate the need to be picky [:D]

I use nothing... Clean-up is a breeze, if and when the bolt and the carrier-insides EVER need to be cleaned.

The areas of the AR that is exposed to gas pressure get VERY HOT. [pyro] Oil is converted to coke (burnt carbon) quickly. I allow NO lubes (just bone dry) in the HELL-FIRE areas of my AR (gas tube, inside carrier, bolt, bolt rings, etc).

BTW, I have zero malfunctions.

I use CLP to clean and store, but initally a light coat of TW-25B and this is why:

-carbon fouling doesn't stick to it, especially inside of the hard to clean carrier.

-light coating does not attract dirt/dust

-does not rub/wear off for a long time, even if it appears to be gone

-decreases wear on metal to metal surfaces. mag phosphate finish on my bolts have only started to rub off after about 1k rnds.

-smooth cycling

If you havent tried it yet, do so. I think you will like it

It really is Coke.. it is flat and lost all of it's fizzel... but, it taste fine... If I shoot fast, and get the barrel hotter, Pepsi forms.

CLP in the black bottle. The spray can wastes to much(imo).Also,if you can find it,Slick50 OneLube. It,s alot like CLP but a little heavier.
I've heard tranny fluid works good,but I've never tried it.

Militec it now and then on the more abrasive areas and use EEZOX or BF CLP on the rest. Though I think EEZOX does it all quite well!

CLP but lately have found Break Free "lubricant/preservative for rapid fire automatic firearms". It is thicker and I think provides better protection for the bolt/bolt carrier. I even use it on my AR-10(2).

when brand new assembled from parts, I have chosen to place a thin coat of 'molly' assembly lube on the bolt lugs and sear surfaces.
this I admit is anal overworrying to birth my new baby. it requires extra cleaning to insure this stuff is clear after its initial mission.
clp there after.compressed air is one luxury to insure you use no more than a light protective film.

I just render down the grease from tresspassers that I pop with the AR. Not the best but it's free, and since people are so chubby nowadays the yield is pretty high.
