Ok, I am going to shoot the EA some because I can't stand it not to however I don't want it to be my primary AR because I want/need to preserve it for the historical value.

I'm leaning to a Bushmaster Dissipator but want as many comments/opinions as possible before making a choice. In addition to which brand/make/model I'd also like input on fixed or removable carry handle.

Sorry but being a fan of basic models I have to recommend a XM15 E2S A2 20".

Step up - maybe an ArmaLite (or Eagle Arms) AR-10 in .308.

Edited to add:  No handle if you're going to scope the rifle

I want to stick with the .223 round and since I have the 20" EA I'm thinking of a 16" although that isn't set in stone.

ArmaLite M15A4 Carbine or B/M V Match carbine with the fluted barrel.  Both are fine rifles and will give you a little different feel from your 20".

Go for the "Dissi". You'll get the 20" sight picture with the swingage of a carbine. If you go with the "Dissi" a fixed A-2 sight will work good. You can mount up tactical scopes and the such w/ clamp on weaver rail. Plus, I never got into mounting scopes on carbines anyway.

Or, go 24" RRA Varminter. Prairie dogs shiver at the thought.

Got to handle the Bushmaster 25th anniv. gun today. It's really a nice gun. I like the sights on it. A little gaudy but really nice.
