On a carbine, the #38 super-extended will reach all the way to the front sight tower.

Yup. It reaches just as far forward as the ARMS#39A2

It has an overall length of 14" and it extends past the upper receiver 6-1/2" [8D]

Just installed my ARMS #38 S-Ex on my Colt M4. Had to file down the nearest 1.5" on the top handguard to get it to fit. Not hard at all (with a finishing sander).
