im new to the ar15, but not new to guns.  i've been researching ar makes for a while now and believe a rock river is in my future.  until today.  i came across an unfired preban colt 20 in with flash hider, bayonet lug ect.  price is 1250 (from what ive seen on gunsamerica ect.. i believe this is a good price.  i was getting the rra to have a m4gery but with this colt i could have the collapsing stock ect.  the thing is this colt is greenish in color compared to the rocks and bushmasters next to it.  color was quite noticable.  is this common?  will it darken if lubed?? (might be a dumb question)  are there uppers that will match this color?  i really dont want a two tone ar, my sigs are all black the way a shooter is supposed to be
thanks for the responces ahead of time

My preban colt has a slight green color to it as well.  I have been told that this is trademark colt.  It is originally gray, and then in changes slightly with age.  I would definately pick up that colt.  I live in Arizona and new colt prebans go for $1500 plus.  I have one similar to the one that you are discribing that I tricked out as an m4.  Also my ar's green was less noticable after I let it sit in oil for a while, but it did not go away.  My colt m4 upper does not perfectly match, but I still love it.

Hope it helps.

Yes, i've seen a few Colts make the color change.  A coating of CLP will darken it up a bit.  You could also get it refinished in a black color or the original grey if you want.

Keep the lower grey and get the new upper refinished.
