I have a delema, I have a bushi 16" A2 almost new.  In 2 weeks i will have $1000 bucks to buy another bushi but an M4 flattop.  Im thinking of buying from AIMsurplus. Im not sure if i want 2 16" rifles.  Would you sell the A2 upper and just buy a different upper maybe a A3 20"?  Or sell the whole rifle and buy the aimpoint CompM2 and the goodies for the m4.  Another question, I am not in the military, but do like quality.  Do you think the aimpoint rail grabber is sufficent for civilian use, or would you spend the big bucks on the ARMS mount.  I have ruled out the GGG unit i think.  And i am not made of money, and dont need the absolute best but just want quality.  My business is seasonal and i can wait till the summer to get all the goodies for the rifles but would just like some input on what you would do.  Another option would be to convert the A2 into a flattop by switching the recievers and saving a whole lot of money.  But i think i am leaning toward a new rifle altogether.

2 stripped lowers               = $200

1 20" A2 parts kit              = $415

1 16" C.A.R. postban parts kit  = $415

2 complete rifles instead of 1  = $1030

but thats just me.....

what type of postban kits are $415?  i saw a bushi kit for 650, and damn i could just buy a rifle from aim for that much.  Are you talking a mismatch of parts and uppers and lowers ?  what site are you refering to to get a parts kit for 415?  Im not sure if i could put one together but it would be fun to try.

Down payment on an AR-10(T), but that's just me.
IMHO, you don't want 2 16" rifles.  I would

think about a 20" or a 24" of some kind.

Get an ACOG for the rifle you already have that would be SERIOUSLY badass!...posted by Aimless...something to be said for this as well.

I think he meant kits from J&T, Model 1, Oly, etc.  Their kits are a lot cheaper than Bushmaster, but you don't get chrome lining or that 4150 barrel steel some make a big deal of.

Do a web search for Sherluk Trading. They have parts kits for $415. They only advertize the 20" and 16" but if you call them they have whatever you need. I built one of their flattop C.A.R. kits ($400 at a gun show they were at in lower MI), It's about 10 times nicer parts then what my friend got from J&T. They are all Wilson barrels, and you can get chrome lined or non-chrome lined. The kit went toghter without one problem on a bushmaster lower.

$1000 you say?

I'd buy that AK74 that HiramRanger is selling for around $350...

Then I'd buy a Gemtech Outback for my P-22 and pay the transfer tax for it to round out another $500

Leaving me another $250 to buy some mags and 5.45 ammo for the new AK!

There is no harm in having two 16" ARs.  Do what Troy said: buy a Bushmaster lower from a dealer or the Equipment Exchange and then order the upper you want from Bushmaster.  There is some silly tax that is imposed on complete weapons and you can get around that by building your own.  Then you'll have money left over to buy mags & ammo ( and a really cheap hooker [}:D] ).

Good luck!

ok man, in all seriousness, if you have $1000 cash to blow this is what you must do.

first, go to the bank and have your 1k converted entirely into pennies.

then take some of the pennies and hire a dump truck to transport them to your bedroom.

dump them all on your bed.

jump into said bed and flop around like a fish screaming "im a freaking rich bastard!" over and over again.  i reccommend you do this naked.  and on live web cam.

after you do this you put all your pennies (wash them first you sicko) into individual stamped envelopes and send them to me.

Buy 9000 rounds of the South African .223 from Widener's like I just did.  It's all gone & once they sell what they have that's it!!  Stock up now while it's still fairly cheap.

Uppers, sights, etc will always be available!

Having two 16" uppers would seem redundant.  How about seeing if someone will trade an M4 upper for your fairly new 16" A2 upper.  Then do some more research for a good price for a quality 20" upper.

With the money that's left, you can buy accessories and ammo.  If you get an Aimpoint M2, spend a few bucks more for a quality mount such as an ARMS throw lever.  I would (and did) get an Aimpoint before the scope.

Later on when you get another $1000.00 you'll probably be dying for an ARMS SIR for the M4 or an ACOG scope for the 20 incher.
