Do you have your AR scoped and if so what type of scope?
Link Posted: 12/31/2002 10:21:59 AM EDT
[#1]
The question on this board should read:
Which one of your AR's are scoped.
I have one scoped AR, I use a Nikon 6.5x20

Maybe I should have as what type AR and what type scope for that rifle.I have a 4X33 on mine and it seems to big and in the way.I have a Bushy M4 setup.

I have a 3-9x40 on my Bushy 20" HBAR, but it has to be there, since it's a flattop. I'd like to get a carbine with open sights as well, just to plink around with. I shot an AR10 with an ACOG on it, and it was SWEET.

I have a 20" Bushy A3 and, once I get it back from Premier Reticles, a 4.5-14x40mm Leupold Vari-X III w/Gen2 mil-dot.

It'll be fun to see how precisely I can place a shot with the scope, but its accuracy with the ol' iron sights continues to amaze me.  I have a feeling the scope will be in the case a lot more than it's on the Bushy.

On my Bushmaster M4A3 I usually have a BSA 40mm Red Dot sight. I have a carry-handle mount. I don't like not having irons. I recently had a broken Simmons 3-9x40. It wouldn't focus after 5x. Right now I don't have anything but the carrying handle. I got tired of optical sights.

I use a red dot and iron sights on my M4 and I'm building a flat-top 18" with room for a scope.

Thinking of the Tasco EXP.

I've been fooling around with a Brit-built for Israel TRILUX.  Inverted pointer, very heavy (17 oz.), probably stronger than the rifle.  1950s technology, but it works.

It is not a repeat zero setup, but it is worth a further look.

Colt HBAR-Leopold 3x9 Harris BP
Colt HBAR/Armalite lower-Redfeild 4x Harris BP
Colt A2/EA lower- Leopold 2.5x

The 2.5 is the best!!!.  You can lift the gun up to your shoulder with both eyes open...and there it is..Just center crosshairs and pull trigger til empty.  Wow!  Very accurate too, in spite of low power.  WWII sniper scopes were commonly in the lower power ranges.  Used by Brits, Russ, Germ, Japs, etc.  Good for work out to 600 yds.

I have a lowly kit rifle built off of a Bushy lower. Of course my kit rifle shoots 1 moa but that's besides the point. I have a nice Colt 4x (you are not alone byf42). It shoots exceptionally well for it's size. Recently bought a carry-handle scope rail and mounted a BSA red-dot on it to see if I'd like to drop the big money on a Mepro or Trijicon tritium powered optic. I'm surprised at how well the little cheap thing works. It's not a tack driver but it shoots within a four inch 10 ring at 100 yards and I can keep both eyes open and scan while I do it. Not bad, I will definitely be looking into one of the Trijicons.

Re: .260 upper. My lower just got to GA Precision in NKC MO today. George Girard is doing it. $750 gets a Badger free floating handguard around a Mike Rock 5D 24" barrel, Eagle Arms flat top upper, gas block. No bolt carrier group or charging handle. Had to send mine to make sure headspace and fit would be okay.
IM me and I will give you George's email addy.
