This is the only gun related BB I view where the members complain about normal sounds related to firearms such as: "Muzzle brakes are just too loud!", "How can I stop the "spong" sound my recoil spring makes", and so on. Yet just about everyone here could care less if their M4 weighs 11 pounds or more (with most of the weight being on the muzzle end no less) when all it's techno-gadgets are in place. Maybe it's just me but an overly heavy, un-balanced rifle bothers me MUCH more then any sounds it may generate.

I never hear the "boing" sound in my AR because I've spent too much time on the line next those Armalites that blow your hat and earmuffs off of your head [BD]

Outside of looks, all a brake does for my AR's is make them noisier. Why should I??

I don't know what all the fuss is about with muzzle brakes either.. All guns are excessively loud.. Even a .22LR will damage your hearing.

A 30-06 out of a 22" barrel with plain muzzle is a hell of a lot louder than a little 5.56 with a Mini-Y-Comp brake.. [:)]

As for the "heavy unbalanced 11lb tricked out M4's" out there.. *no comment* to each thier own.

Because it hurts your hearing, and can cause a subconcious fear of your weapon, making you flinch. Armalite muzzle brakes, even on a 20 inch .223, can cause headaches.
