I just purchased a .50 Cal Beowulf. Has anyone here shot one? I want to get others to let me know how they like there Beowulf. I also just ordered a M-4 Tactical Rock River upper for it. I have shot Bushmasters and Colts but never owned one. I have an AK47 and just sold my SKS. I am waiting on more Ammo for the .50 Cal Beowulf to go out and shoot it. I only got one box, that was all the dealer had. I am waiting on 2 cases and then I will take it out and let it rip.

Please update us as to how it shoots, if you enjoy it, etc.

I am very interested in the .50 caliber phenomenon that is happening with AR uppers.  The Beowulf, the "SOCOM", etc.

Also, you mentioned that you ordered two cases of ammo for it.  What brand ammo did you order, and was there choices in bullet weights etc?

As far as the rounds go, they are made by Alexander Arms, the ones that make the upper and who put the gun together, the lower is Rock River. There is 325 , 335 and 400 gr. rounds. I will give feed back as soon as I go out and shoot it. I did not want to just take out 20 rounds, I want to shoot around 100 to get a good feel for the gun. As far as recoil I am use to shooting a 444 Marlin, 45-70 Hot loaded and 375 H&H. If you want to check out Alexander Arms site go to www.alexanderarms.com

The 325 gr. Bullet goes 1950 fps. it is real close to 444 and 45-70. But in semi-auto.

I love my 50 Beowulf. I have a couple hundred rounds through mine. Off the bench I have gotten 1.5 inch groups. It is a brute however and having long arms I to keep from beating myself I andded a 1 inch stock extension. Oh and does it ever shut those "Look its a mouse gun" clowns up

I also shoot a 444 Marlin in the 444P configuration.  I have fired the 458 SOCOM round which is pushing a few more FPS, IIRC....and it is not as stout.  It is almost easy to get the barrel back on for a follow-up shot.

I am having some 500gr 458 SOCOM rounds loaded up for deer hunting later this year.  I think of the big bores the 458 was the best chosen round for all its variety of rifle bullets.

It has a good kick to it, but real accurate. I just ordered a pneumatic recoil reducer to put in lower. I will see how it tames the recoil. Now I am hooked on AR,s I just picked up a Bushmaster XM15E2S M4 Type 16in carbine. and ordered another .50 Beowolf upper to put on a Colt M4 type lower. I jumped in with both feet. :D

I got my upper for $605 through my dealer.

THe first shop I went to had one in stock but it was already spoken for.....they told me it would be an 8-10 week wait for one.

My regular dealer pulled some strings and managed to get me one in 4 days!!!

Redbone, you can order one from Alexander Arms ,but they will tell you 6 to 8 weeks. I bought the Gun with removable carry handle, front removable sight, carry case and cleaning kit for $1314.00, it is called the Entry over match plus. Check with your dealer, the gun without the handle, front sight and carring case goes for $995.00 from Lou Hortons. You can get the uppers for around $600.00 with out the front sight or carry handle.

Saw some of that ammo at the local fun store yesterday - the 325gr hollowpoints.  $22.95 for a box of 20.  And that is one [red]big[/red] bullet.  The case alone is about the size of my thumb.

.50 Beowulf is an excellent choice. I have had some problems with magazine reliablity.  The USGI mags gave me problems.  The cheap steel ones work better.
