20" LW barrels are hard to find these days. If you keep your eye out, you may find one of the 1:7 LW 20" barrels that Bushy made for the Israelis. The extras were sold off. There weren't that many, either, so they won't be easy to find. You can get a real military A1 barrel in 1:12, but you'll be pretty limited on ammo selection (though they work great with 55gr ammo!). Sarco has them, $135.
Bushmaster makes Canadian C7-style uppers, which are essentially A1 uppers with brass deflectors. -Troy |

Thanks. I had no idea these were getting so hard to find. BTW, how worn out are those barrels Sarco has? I have a 1/7 A2 upper already so the 1/12 is okay by me.

Actually, I think Model 1 sales has lightweight barrels. Also, I bought an A1 Colt SP1 upper off of ebay for $150 a couple weeks ago. It has a 1/7 20" light barrel and could easily be made into a post ban.

The Sarco barrels are unused, not take-offs. They were replacement parts that were surplussed after the A2 transition. Of course, they have threaded muzzles and bayonet lugs, so if it is going on a post-ban rifle, you'll need to address that. I'd send it to Kurt at KKF and have him install his A2-look brake and remove the bayo lug.

It would be going on a pre ban Colt. Thanks for all the info. Also, is an A1 upper with no brass deflector really that big a deal for a lefty?

It can be. Since they are available, I'd go ahead and get a C7 upper.
