I took a closer look at it and the ser# starts LTA  I think this is a law enforcement only you can Barley see the 5 where it said ar15. I do not think I can use this if I wonted to could I. The Colt emblem is still there. What you guys think?

Every thing from the ser# up to the pony is missing except the partial #5 No other markings.

Then you REALLY want to stay away from it.

See if you can have the pawn shop guarantee a serial number. Make sure that the number is on the gun. Make sure that the number is in their bound book. Otherwise walk away really fast.

If this is a creepy pawnshop that will not deal with you, or they are assholes to begin with, contact ATF and see what they say about an FFL selling guns w/ the serial numbers missing.

I used to think that calling BATF was screwing gunowners over something like this.  However, if it looks like these guys are doing something shady and refuse to clarify and keep things legal, it may be worth a call.  

Questionable/ bogus gun sales are screwing over law abiding gun owners.  Sales like this one in Tacoma for the sniper are giving the media a freaking field day.  I would rather see a scam gun store/ pawn shop out of business than us lose more rights.

I'm not saying that the guys in Tacoma did anything wrong, but even if everything was legal, the idea that they can't find their records just looks bad.

Yea I think I'm just going to back off this one. Might go there and look at it again and wipe off my prints and give it back ! LOL.
