I am ready to order a kit from J&T distributors and am in the market now for a lower. Does anybody know anything about these lowers? What's the difference between these cheap lowers and the regularly priced ones? The best I can tell is that they are both made of 7075 aluminum. The cheap ones don't require an ffl, which makes me wonder. Please help...

Those are forgings.  They're not milled out at all.  You'll have to mill out all the holes, magwell, internals, etc.  It'll cost you more to do that (unless you have access to a free mill) than to get a stripped lower from an FFL.
