Chirs,
I see that 1.5x6x42 scope with 30mm scope tubes seem to be a standard among European scope manufacuters, much like the 3x9x40 on a 1" tube is an American standard. My question is how do the 1.5x6x42 scope from Kahles, Schmidt&Bender, Swarovski and Ziess compare. If money was no object, which one is at the top of the heap, and how do the others rank? Do any have any special features that the others do not have? Nikon makes a Gold Monarch in the 1.5x6x42 format with a 30mm tube and I believe that the Leupold LPS line use to carry one, as did Tasco in the Titian line. What is your opinion on these scopes? For an all round general purpose scope on a general purpose hunting rifle (ie. bolt action 270, 7mm Mag, 30-06, 300 Mag) which scope format do you perfer, the American 3x9x40 on a 1" tube or the European 1.5x6x42 on a 30mm tube?
