I currently have a 6PX in a Surefire M79 mount that I use on my carbine with railed forend. I remove it during the day so I would like to keep the light in this mount...easy to remove, etc.
What I would like to do is move the light more forward and thus the Thorntail is the perfect piece of gear for my needs. My question is whether or not I have to use the ring that comes with the mount or can I use any 1913 compatible mount like my M79? Is there a clearence issue by clamping something to the extension piece? From the pics I've seen, it looks like I have to use your ring mount but thought I would ask for sure.
Thanks for what appears to be a great product. I hope it works for my needs.
ETA: After watching some videos and studying more pics, it appears that the extension piece will only take the IWC ring mount. THe extension piece looks too narrow for a 1913 pic mount.
I saw that they make a rail section to work in a similar fashion but it does not extend out as far as the other mounts.
I would still like verification but I'm afraid I will not like the answer.
