In the process of writing a magazine article, "AR-15 MOA,Accuracy For Under $1,000.00", I had the pleasure of dealing with the folks at Rock River Arms. On my initial call I was cordially greeted by Linda in the front office. Linda, after hearing of my intention to use Rock River Arms components in the article rifle put me in touch with Mark Larson. Mark went to lengths on bringing me up to speed with regard to Rock River Arm's dedication to quality and accuracy. I also learned of Rock River Arms work in making their near perfect National Match Two Stage Trigger even better to satisfy the needs of the Benchrest, Varmint and serious Competition Shooter.
When the rifle arrived I was very impressed with the fit and finish, to say the least. There was absoultely no play between the A4 Upper and Lower Forged Receivers. The finish was the best I have seen to date and much better than that of the two previously owned Colts. I had chosen the 20" Stainless Varmint Barrel with the 1 in 8 twist to handle the heavier 69,70 and 75 Gr. bullets I planned to use extensively. The Alloy Free Floating Handguard and Gas Block's finish matched that of the receivers perfectly. Impressed, you bet I was. Now how will it shoot?
At the Range I used some late 1990's IMI SS 109 62 Gr. Green Tips to shoot a round and clean for a cycle of 30 rounds to Break In The Barrel.
The 4 shot groups with the IMI SS 109 were all Sub MOA after sighting in the rifle with a Tasco 6X24X44 World Class Target Scope held in place with Les Baer Precision EDM Scope Rings.
The best 3 shot group measuring .338 was by way of a 69 Gr. Sierra MatchKing atop 25.5 Gr. of Reloader-15. Impressed, you bet I was and the only thing I can say is if you are in the market for an AR Based MOA Rifle look no further than the folks at Rock River Arms. The gals in the front office, Linda and Gay can answer any questions you might have regarding rifle components or completely assembled rifles and make ordering from Rock River Arms a pleasure.
Now knowing the quality of Rock River Arms products, I look forward to writing an article on one of their 1911 Style Pistols or any new offerings to come out of this fine company.
