I use NEITHER and I've never had one back off, even after a long day (1,000rnds) of firing.
I check them before and after each firing as normal PMCS.
Am I in the minority? Yes...this post will be followed by a stream of staking and/or Locktite recommendations but if you even think you might want to remove your stock it's OK in my book to just torque it down...properly torqued nuts have a tendency to stay that way..
Thanks for the input. I am of the staking camp. It did not appear that my rifle had a staked castle nut.
The question is, does RRA build there factory SBR's with loctite'd castle nuts?
I broke a cheap strap wrench trying to loosen the nut on my factory RRA SBR. I ordered a good spanner to try to get the nut off but I need to know should I soak the nut in acetone or WD40 to get it off?
I got a magpul sling plate I am attempting to install on my RRA SBR but can't get the castle nut off. I do not want to damage my receiver trying to install a sling plate.
