I placed an order on 12/27 and now Fed Ex tracking shows deliver of 01/07 (with usps final deliver). I used to get my Brownells orders in about 4 days max. Now I understand the holidays and all but 10 days to go from Iowa to MN seems a bit excessive.

Depending on shipping method, coupled with the weekend and holiday, a 5-7 day shipping time frame could easily be ten total days. This would only be the case due to the 3 day weekend in this instance...but a delivery of 01/07 IS a bit excessive. We will see what we can do. Thank you so much. |

Both were shipped out via Fed EX and are on the slow truck to the distant USPS hub. I used spend a good portion of my parts money at Brownells. Over the past few years, I've strayed away to other suppliers, but would still use Brownells from time to time, or for some their more unique or hard to find items. Last year I ponied up and purchased an Edge membership. It is getting close to renewal time, and I'm going to have a very hard time spending my money renewing. I'm sorry, but these days there are many more places to get parts and often cheaper, even with a dealer discount. Now on top of that 13 days to ship a 1.5 pound package and 14 days to ship a 1.4 pound package? Sad. |

Wow- I placed an order recently that is coming through Fedex SmartPost- according to tracking it is at a location 180 miles away.
They say it will be delivered in just over a week from now. Are you freaking joking? 8 days to go 180 miles? Is the USPS using donkeys now? Sorry Brownell's I'm done with you. |
|
I have been telling them this for the last 2 years.
I have one coming from Brownell's that is coming Smart Post-Which smart it ain't-shipped yesterday with a delivery date of next Thursday. I could have driven to Iowa, spent a few days in St. Louis, picked it up and been back home in less time. It's getting really old Brownell's. I'm going to say it again- STOP WITH THE HAND OFFS FROM SHIPPING SERVICE TO SHIPPING SERVICE. If you would just stay with UPS and USPS-DO NOT USE MAIL INNOVATIONS, SURE POST OR SMART POST-you would not have so many angry customers. |

We find that a very small percentage of packages arrive to customers outside of the projected ship times with mail innovations, sure post, or smart post. Is the issue less the shipping time and more the routing that is happening through the process (i.e. that the parcel goes to a city maybe in the opposite direction from your location for a few days)? We appreciate your continued feedback. We cannot change without it! |

We appreciate your continued feedback. We cannot change without it! View Quote It's both, they are linked. My USP guy has told me that in the case of Mail Innovations that all MI mail arrives at a hub then is tossed into a large bin where it sits until sorted. Part of the issues why it sits is that MI has x amount of days to be delivered. So lets say that a package is shipped via Mail Innovations on the 5th and has an expected delivery date of the 13th. It arrives in the receivers area on the 8th, it's very likely that the package will sit in the MI bin until maybe the 10th, before being sorted and passed on to the Post Office. However there is a wrinkle in that. To keep their internal shipping numbers looking efficient, often times when a MI package shows forwarded to the Post Office, it's not. It's sitting in the bin to be taken to the PO. The UPS driver I talked to says that UPS considers the bins in their hubs that are property of the USPS no different that a actual Post Office. So, to make their number look good just because it shows delivered to your Post Office, does not mean that it's really there. My mailman confirmed it, as he is the guy in the mornings that sorts the packages sent to our local PO from UPS and FedEx. Again, if you guys would just stick with either UPS or the USPS to handle the packages-No one handing off to the other-it would be more efficient and be like the old days when you could count on the day that it would be delivered. |

What it shows, is that it's been tendered to the USPS for final delivery, when in fact, it's still at the UPS hub waiting for UPS to delivery it to the Post Office for final delivery. I will ask again since the question was ignored last time. Why can I upgrade a Surepost package to UPS delivery for $3.50 just by being a UPS my choice free member but you want $6.00?
Also you loose my business for small light weight stuff because of Innovations shipping. Too slow and no ability to upgrade through UPS my choice. The air bag shipping for packing is the worst. Not sure who bought into that idea. Showed up at multiple retailers about the same time. Sure miss the old sturdy white boxes sized correctly for the package and with good packing to protect the items. The way stuff comes boxed now it is like the person packing the item can not pick the box or the box is picked to suit the shipping company. I do think you are a great company though. |

They had slid all around the box, so much in fact, that the sides of the box were punctured in several places, and one corner was ripped open. It was so bad, my UPS driver pointed the ripped corner and waited for me to open it to make sure that the contents were still there. I got an ideal Brownell's-why not form a customer advisory group that gives you feedback and ideals on the shipping process? I was in shipping and receiving for several years and I have a pretty good ideal what works and what does not. |

I know that by mail retailers usually negotiate rates with shippers and choose the best deal, but I'm going to pile on this band wagon too.
Fedex SUCKSSSSS! I am only a few hundred miles from you guys and USP ground was basically overnight or two day. With Fedex you never know. They aren't nearly as customer friendly as UPS either. I know that varies by locality... |

A damn expensive box of high end dies and accessories had popped all of the air bags and were just rattling around in the box. That brown paper packing is far, far superior. |

I have cracked the shipping code. If I order ammo it has to ship UPS. And is still covered under my edge membership. My last order with ammo was placed on Sunday and received on Tuesday, just like the good ole days of Brownells UPS shipping. So now I will have to add a box of ammo to all my parts orders.

I too am watching a package that would have been here today via UPS sit at some strange place just 60 miles away waiting for someone at the shipping company to care. And because they don't it won't be here until the weekend.
Thank god I had planned to shoot this stuff this weekend. I felt it SHOULD have been OK to order something that was all in stock on Weds Apr 19, and get it at least by 9 days later, 7 of them business days. I even planned on the very negative recent Brownells shipping outcomes and still got burned. No other vendor I do business with is this bad at this point Shit, I ordered something overnight from a vendor at 945PM my time. The box was big and heavy and had a lot of stuff in it - overnight was only $27 instead of $10 standard shipping. They shipped the package at 1018PM and I had that box in my hands 11 hours later. |

Here's a doozy....Ordered some springs on Monday. No upgrade shipping...sat in Cincy for a few days-Way to go Mail Innovations.
In contrast, I ordered some sights on Wednesday. Arrived today. WTF Brownell's...do you even care about us anymore? Please stow the canned "We here you" reply. Because if you really did listen to us, you would fix your shipping. The only reason I ordered the sights from you is because Amazon did not have them in stock. Had they had them, I would have saved $15 and gotten them in 2 days. |

Our apologies for the delayed response. We have added staff & shifts on weekends to process orders as quickly as possible prior to leaving our facility. Regarding shipping specifically after product leaves the facility, we have been working with shipping vendors to address the issues described by customers - including citing specific shipping events - in order to better align them with our and your expectations. After having packages lagging in the Fed-Ex / USPS void for 2-3 days (7 & 8 days total from order to delivery) I am testing this idea with an order placed today. I'll add a box of .22 ammo for $5.99 and still get the Edge Member “free shipping”. Ordered 8/1, shipped 8/1 (thank you Brownells!), tracking shows the order “should” arrive 8/3. I can buy from midwayUSA for the same or cheaper cost per item and pop a $4 item into my basket and get free or drastically reduced shipping. And get it faster then Brownells. |

I ordered a magazine floorplate that shipped out on June 16th. It got to Greensboro (where I live) on the 19th, then ended up in Maryland on the 27th. After calling and complaining a couple of times I finally got my part on the 29th.
They shipped something by UPS and then US Mail innovations that could have been put in a First Class envelope. This is not the first time I have had issues with their shipping. I asked them the same thing and even sent an email complaining about the shipping. I really don't think Brownells cares. Most places I have found if you call, you can get different shipping choices. Brownells is my last place to check now. |

I suspect that the Edge deal quickly became a financial lose for Brownells. It became very easy to order one or two item at a time (with the free shipping) instead of waiting to accumulate a larger order. When you knew you would have that item(s) in 3-4 days you could let Brownells carry some of your inventory.
In the mean time....what it the least expensive item that will require direct shipping? Will the $1.99 bottle of Rem Oil do it? We know.22 ammo at $2.99 (when in stock) will work. Also....You've probably noticed there is almost always a free shipping code available to anyone for $100+ order |

I have to admit, I made my first order with Brownell's last week. Will probably be my last.
I also ordered parts from 6 other vendors at same time, from all over the country. Started getting packages on Monday, got my last package today. Brownell's order "projected" to be here next Monday Fedex shipping sucks. Sorry, this day and age packages should ship same day, or at least next day. And not take more than a week to arrive. Edit: Just checked tracking. Sure enough, Smartpost Package spent a day hanging out at neighboring state, my guess sitting in a sorting bin. BTW, I order from one of my business vendors in the same location. Both USPS and UPS ground are next day from that location. Looks like 3days coming Smartpost. I wish I would have known this before ordering. |
