Hey Paul, it is a sweet rifle, I will take care of it, promis! My brother in law was over today and said that if it had small take down pins, then it had large trigger pins. I disagreed since they looked small and you also said they were small. He did cast doubt in to my mind though. I just added an A2 stock to it, more comfortable to shoulder.
Yeah that used to be "sorta" true until Colt changed back to .154 small mil-spec FCG pins about a year ago and I could see where someone might think that.
All in all it doesn't really matter as the reliability and performance of .170 and .154 pins are exactly the same. Personally I'm glad to see Colt go back to mil-spec .154 pins just because it's one less thing the Colt haters can point at and say "Colt sucks because...", but again it doesn't actually make a difference in reliability or performance of the firearm. I don't run any non-Colt triggers so it's never been an issue. I suppose if you really wanted to put an after market trigger in your Colt, you would need .154 pins unless the after market trigger had a .170 option.
Here is an example that shows how I and others in the Colt forum feel about the FCG pins. If I have the option of two Colt LE6920's in the exact same condition and the only difference was price based on FCG pin size, so $1,200 for .154 pin model or $1,199 for .170 pin model, I would take the .170 pin model and save a buck.
