You'd think they would at least ask one of the janitors to check up on this forum from time to time!
Lots of sales out there to be made--but Colt's civilian side has its head so far up its ass that I think they'll never get it out. This coming from a Colt Kool-Aid drinker
Mebbe I am mad cause I can't get a gun with the right pin holes and a pony on the side!

How many civilian sales does General Dynamics make? They are not worried about it because their focus is on defense. Colt sells firearms to defense and LE interests worldwide, which is not a fickle market dictated by ridiculous laws that last ten years then go away like the AWB.
Avoiding the civilian sector gives these benefits:
1. No unwarranted lawsuits such as Bushmaster payed off on (DC Sniper) by liberal anti gun groups and crime victims families.
2. No future civilian sector lawsuits to worry about like gun mfg responsibility for crimes/accident caused by misuse or criminal acts.
3. No additional marketing costs beyond the defense/LE firearms industry.
4. No small dealers or middle men to deal with.
5. no worrying about consumer shifts, preferences and current fickle market trends (like consumers worried about petty cosmetic issues or the latest trendy "bling")
6. have to pay fewer customer service reps and help desk - the military and LE conduct their own training and maintenance programs as compared to the civilian sector who can screw up just about any firearm by misuse, lack of training and maintenance.
With all these factors to consider, it's a wonder Colt offers civilian versions of anything. Companies like Bushmaster have no choice, the civilian sector is all they have, for the most part, with some LE.
People often fail to consider the business perspective of the firearms manufacturers. They are there to make money, first and foremost.
