If that happens, it would make it an imported weapon which would only be available to
LEOs and Government agencies. If they had the requisite number of US parts for importation, then it might be a different story but this may be Colt's answer to keep LEO weapons out of civilian hands.
If the weapon were totally produced in Canada, it would be restricted to agencies only - if I am understanding import laws correctly. But I don't think that is what Colt will do - it will more than likely be a U.S. assembled weapon
or they will have to get some sort of State Department approval and since Colt Canada is a "wholly owned subsidiary" of Colt Defense, a U.S. company - any of this is a possibility. I guess we will all just have to wait and see. But I know Colt has no intention of loosing its individual officer market (and hence its civilian market) by producing a weapon that can only be imported for l/e agency use.
