Glad you like it, now how about an ARD and good lens covers for it. Maybe a 1-6x24 version? You guys are on a roll.

To Vortex Optics:
The Viper PST 1-4X ROCKS! Well, everything except for the illumination that is. Have taken it out to the range twice: once on a bench, and today in a rifle match. Both days were overcast, but with some snow on the ground, and I haven't been able to see the illumination even on 10-power either day. If the illumination mechanism were beefed up, this would be a near perfect scope. Even though the regular reticle is visible, I would like to have a illuminated reticle so my eyes/brain can pick up on the reticle faster for faster engagement down range. Sincerely, A Vortex Customer. |

I had 2 hours to use my PST for the first time this Sunday. Less than 20 rounds and I had it zeroed. My groups were great and the glass is bright.
I love the small center dot as it covers very little for prescision shooting. The ring is good for both eyes open red dot type shooting. As others have said I wish the illumination was a little brighter. I was shooting @ 2:30 /4:30 PM in SEPA and the targets are West/South/West from the bench so the sun was all over my right lobe. I had some snow and lot of brown & it was mostly sun ,very little clouds. I always could see either the crisp black etching or some shade of red. I feel the trade off is good for prescision shooting and the eye relief is super with my perscription shades, plain saftey glasses or nothing at all( Never fired WO eye protection). Looking forward to running it hard . . |

Why would you want the PST target turrets over the regular ones on the HS ( i have never used them or ranged before but i am will ing to learn ) My biggest concern is the knobs being big and bulky and possibly getting knocked out of adjustment...
foreman2000- The adjustment turrets have enough tension I don't think they'll move accidentally, but if you don't need the external adjustments get the other version.

I am learning how to run a course of fire and some do not like using hold overs . If you know or range the distance you can dial up a target real quick then return to zero using the CRS. If you do bang it or forget you just spin the turrent down until it stops than just back up a few clicks until the lite pipe is on Zero. You do not even have to look at it during the first part. If you are practicing , lets say at 400yards , it is nice to dial it up and use just the center dot. |
Glad you like it, I'm still impressed with mine. It's held up well on my SCAR 17, never losing zero. I'm waiting on the Viper HS 4-16x44 LR to mount on my Remington 700P.
Viper HS 4-16x44 Should have one by late June, or early July. I'll put up a review when I get it. I'm sold on Vortex optics. |

I won at a local Practical rifle match today and much is owed to the center DOT in my Viper 1x4. We were shooting precsion close shots and the .25 MOE dot at 1 power allows you to see exactually what you are supposed/want to ht.
Really starting to get used to this optic and enjoying how it is preforming. |

As long as the 1x was a true 1 power. |

Done, buying another one after recovering from xmas. With my LT OBR762 and this scope, I got 2nd place at the last 3 gun match I shot on the long range stage. Managed 19 hits out of the 20 rounds I fired using my reloading data, ishooter and a GREAT scope. I have half a mind to sell my SSHD5x20 and get Vortex's 5-20 :D BTW, the last shot was a miss because the buzzer went off. Round went on target. GREAT optic. Really pleased. |

I'm glad that you like the scope so well. Sounds to me like you are doing your part shooting! Fortunately, the indian managed to buy a good arrow. I never thought I'd be excited to get xmas out of the way. I am definitely buying this same scope for my AR15, but want to look for something for my 22lr AR. Time to go surf your website. I was really really pleased with how accurate the reticle was. My hold overs were right on the money for has marks and what I figured the drop would be on my bullet. Prior to this stage, I had not shot this rifle and scope past 100 yards, but it was dead on at 100. So I am still pleased as hell with the results. And here I thought I was done buying scopes for a while. And thank you again for supporting LE. I couldn't tell you how pleased I am with your service and product. Looking forward to the LT TMG championship in April. Sure wish I had this scope at the last one. ETA - pic :D then the sight in target for my new reload I just worked up: |

Just got one. Should I get the extended magnification lever? Does it get in the way of the charging handle in any way? Will be in a Larue SPR mount.

The switch view is great and doesn't interfere with any operations on the scope to my experience thus far. |

Just ordered one of these to use for 3 gun matches. Thanks for doing this review!

Just got mine on my rifle and bore sighted... Now I need to find the time and ammo to actually zero it.

I would love a 1-6x24 in the Viper PST. I know you guys make it in the Razor HD but that's just a touch out of my price range.

Definitely good feedback to have. Good 1-6X optics are difficult to make inexpensively, but it's always good to hear what our consumers are looking for so thank you for the feedback!

For the growing numbers of "astimatismly challenged" shooters.....a nice 1.5X fixed power with a small squarish 1moa illuminated dot would be nice....
also one in a fixed 3X would not go amiss Leupold blew this -imo- as folks like their Prismatic but want 1. more magnification and 2. parallax adjustment This might also be a nice scope for turkey hunting as well I see more and more guys asking about optics that better address astigmatism problems associated with blooming dots....I have noticed that the smaller the illuminated dot is the less bloom it has for me and the more useful it is.. A refined Prismatic with the Vortex name and quality on it would be a very attractive scope for me....I would buy two if you had two choices of magnification and dump my ACOG and Aimpoint. Keep it light wt and maybe with an integral mount I would have no problem paying you what Leupold gets for their Prismatic As the numbers of AR15 shooters age....the demand for and optic like this coule follow... thanks for listening |

I have a 1-4 on its way for my 308 short barreled bolt gun. I think it will work great for hunting shots and critters on the run.
id also like a 1-6 in the pst line, i think a 1-6 in the 7-800 range would be a smash hit. |
I think the 1-4X would be awesome in a hunting scenario. Worked great for me when I put on my .308 Browning BAR. I will pass along the recommendation for the PST 1-6 but please know that making a 1-6X scope at a low price can be very difficult to do. Thanks again for the feedback, guys.
Did you guys ever put in a brighter recticle in this scope? Also how much more expensive would a 1x6 be? Are we talking 50 bucks or 400 bucks?
The reticles currently in the PST, and Razor riflescopes if the original/only brightness level that has been offered. The price comparison between the two is a pretty big spread. The Viper PST 1-4Xs usually go for around $500 but the Razor HD Gen II 1-6X24 riflescopes usually go for about $1,400. Thanks again and please let us know if you have further questions.

View Quote Good to know on the reticles. Yeah I know there is a huge difference in price between the 1-4 PST and 1-6 Razor. I was wondering what it would be + or - if you were to make a 1-6 in the PST line. BTW I ordered me a 1-4 PST last night and I can't wait for Thursday for it to come in the mail!!!! |
Hey glad to hear you have a 1-4X PST coming your way! Thank you for buying one. We appreciate it. As for the difference in price between a theoretical 1-6X PST and a 1-4X PST, I honestly have no idea. I know 1-6Xs are hard to make well so I would imagine it would theoretically cost a lot more but again I don't have any way of knowing.

Thanks for all your help! Sure, although I'm going to keep it very basic because I don't want to give away any of our trade secrets to competitors. In a nutshell the illumination technology we are using in the PST fits the price point. We are using different technologies in the 1-6x24 Razor to get daylight bright, but it is more expensive. There are also some other more expensive technologies available that just don't fit the price point of the PST series. There are ways to do it at the price point, but at significant detriment to battery life, to the point that we don't consider it a good alternative. That being said, we are still exploring new ways to bring that level of brightness to the PST level of scope, but sometimes these things take time to implement. We are definitely working on lots of stuff behind the scenes all the time, so keep an eye out. Thanks! Sam
