Hey guys! This is actually my first post here, but I've been a reader/follower for years.
Just picked up my first LaRue rifle yesterday, a PredatAR 5.56 16". I sat in the garage with it the majority of the night, swapping out accessories, stock, safety, optics etc. The rifle is hands down the highest quality rifle I think that I've held. Those guys at LaRue are seriously artists.
As to my question though. When I decided to swap out the grip for one that I'm used to, I grabbed for the Magpul MIAD. I like the large and medium back strap, and being able to change it up easily when I want. The MIAD I attempted to install is one of the first ones that came out a few years ago, not the new 1.1 version. The main body of the grip installed fine, without issue, but when I tried to slide on the medium or large back straps, they wouldn't fit for anything. It seems like the beaver tail part of it was just to thick, and wouldn't fit around the back of the lower.
I spent the better part of 2 hours trying to sand down the beaver tail on the medium to make it fit, and I got it really close, but was still unable to get it to lock in. My thumbs are literally raw today from all the grinding and sanding lol...
In the PredatAR pictures thread, I've seen numerous pictures, of people using the MIAD 1.1. You can spot them because they don't have that little roll pin hole on the back strap. My question is, does any modification need to be made to the 1.1 version, for the medium and large back strap to fit? Any help/advice is greatly appreciated!
