Yes, you can shoot both .223 and 5.56 out of a barrel chambered in .223 Wylde. The Wylde chamber was designed to accurately shoot the military ball ammo of the day while still feeding reliably. These barrels are capable of shooting the 80 grain bullets used most commonly in highpower rifle competitions. Having said that, depending on the quality of the ammunition, a heavy grain 5.56 projectile will in all likelihood be more accurate than a standard .223 round. We (and our customers) have had oustanding results with our UltraMatch barrels.
The Rainier Arms Lo Pro Match Grade gas block will fit on the barrel. The barrels come pre-drilled with one dimple for a set screw to settle in. We can do a second dimple upon request. In all it is two set screws to install. We can also
pin the gas block for a more secure fit.
