Midwest Industries is always innovating and improving weapons to make them a better tool for the tasks we use them for.
While we have always been conscious of weight, we have also always been very careful to never compromise strength or features. We know our handguards are used on rifles that very well may go into harms way. We take this responsibly very seriously and want our customers to have complete faith in their MI products. That being said we are proud to bring you the first in a new line of AR-15/ M16 products. The Midwest Industries Combat Rail Handguards. These new handguards use our patented 4140 heat treated torque plate and barrel nut and are made of 6061 aluminum with a type 3 hard coat anodized finish. This handguard has a MIL-Standard 1913 Picatinny top rail, two anti-rotation QD sling sockets, and seven sides of M-LOK slots. With the new installation hardware these handguards are one of the easiest to install and will not pull off or rotate even under extreme conditions. These handguards install without requiring the heating of any parts, timing of the barrel nut, shims or special fasteners, and without the use of any Loctite or other adhesives. This new handguard will be available in seven popular lengths, all with an inside diameter of 1.3” and an outside diameter of 1.5”. Actual lengths and weights are listed below. All weights include the steel barrel nut and all hardware. A titanium barrel nut and hardware are available for those looking to cut weight. One five slot polymer M-LOK rail section is included with each handguard. Like everything we make this handguard is 100% made in the USA and is backed by our Lifetime Warranty. https://www.midwestindustriesinc.com/category-s/518.htm 7" handguard weighs 6.8 oz 9.25” handguard weighs 8 oz 9.5” handguard weighs 8.3 oz 10.5” handguard weighs 8.7 oz 12.625” handguard weighs 9.9 oz 14” handguard weighs 10.8 oz 15” handguard weighs 11.4 oz |

NEED to know ASAP: Will the Superlative Arms .875 clamp-on DI adjustable gas block fit inside the Combat rail?
Darn! Can I trade in mine for this one? I like this one better
For anyone interested these new Combat rails do fit on the Aero M4E1 threaded upper.
Just got one of the 14" models for a gun that previously had a Geissele MK14.
Looks like the Geissele Super Gas Block is too large for the MI Combat Rail, as the gas block touches in a couple places. I could probably modify it to work, but since it's not pinned I just ordered a new one that should fit. No big deal but figured others would appreciate knowing ahead of time. I really do like the hand guard. The machining is very well done and install was easy. Seems like a very good option, especially if you can get it on sale like I did. |

I love the look for new rails. Looking at a new upper and MI has my attention. So for the owners out there. Who is running one of MI complete uppers or complete rifle? How is it performing in the long term?

Hey gang- is the top pic in the OP of the 7" rail on a 7.5" barrel? Trying to figure out how the lengths coincide. Thanks!

It's a great looking hand gaurd, excellent alignment and attachment |

Im planning on using your 14 inch rail over a daniel defense lightweight 14.5 barrel. I want to set this up so I can use my Surefire mini SOCOM surpressor. Am I going to be able to do that with only a half inch of barrel sticking out past the handguard?

Will these fit on your billet upper? I have a DSG billet upper which looks to be pretty dang close to the same as the MI branded billet uppers.
Billet uppers require fitting.

Just pulled the trigger on a 9.5" in FDE. I wanted to add that the reason I'm upgrading to this rail, from the G3, is because they dropped the front QD sling mounts. For a combat-oriented rifle build, especially for shorter bbls in the CQB mode, the front swivels interfere with getting a proper "C" clamp grip (not to mention may cause undue flex which causes rail to touch gas block). So from this perspective, I don't want front mounts. If that's your thing, better to stick with G3 rails.
Also the new Combat series has many more lengths, suitable for cans. So I've gone from a 9.25" to a 9.5", which fits my AAC SR5 mo better. And it has an improved bbl nut, and locking stud. Not to mention better fit up with upper. Oh and the new FDE is cerakote by hillbilly223. So yeah I think this is a good, solid rail for building a "MK-18" type rifle. If you want performance and don't have to be "clone-correct" or whatever. |

For those out there curious about M4E1/Combat Rail compatibility. I ended up purchasing the rail a few days after I asked about it. It installed without issue. No different than any other MI product I've had. The only thing I didn't think about is the top picatinny rail on the M4E1 upper receiver is "skeletonized" to reduce weight. The top rail on the combat rail is not. So where they butt up to each other, it sorta looks odd. Not a big deal if your optic mount covers this area anyways. The 15" combat rail went on a lightweight build for my wife back in December. She was very surprised and happy with the end result. I need to get pics up. I think that made my 4th MI rail. |

Can you kick up production on the 4.5" combat rail please? Need 1 or 2 more and rhey are OOS everywhere.

Received my rail from MI two weeks ago. Got the rail mounted once I got my upper back from getting the flash hider pin and welded. The fit and finish on these rails is top notch. Plus the ease of installation. These will be my go to rails for future builds.

I go back and forth between the Combat Rail and the SL Handguard. Excellant rails, foolproof install and devoid of obnoxious graphics and labels.
PLEASE, MI, make either....or both, of these rails scaled up for the DPMS .308 platform. I can guarantee you they well sell like wildfire. |

Are you guys planning on FDE or ODG anytime soon, or are you just too busy for it?
Just wondering if I should buy what's available and have it coated or hold out. Thanks |
