Do you have a hard time getting the right eye relief? I have almost the same setup(5.5-22X56) and find it hard/unnatural. I need to find a way to mount it about 1.5 inches farther forward. |
||
|
You could use the LaRue SPR EE (extended eye-releif) mount, maybe...although that might be too much. Also you could try thr regular SPR mount, that is what I am using with the big Nikon and it is perfect. |

I've got the 24" Varminter and I replaced the FF tube with a YHM FF rail instead. I tried mounting my NXS 5.5-22x56 in an Armalite 1 piece mount to move the scope a little forward for better eye relief, but that big ass 56mm bell still butted up against the rail. I just added a riser rail and then remounted the Armalite mount and scope. Works like a charm. |

I've got it pretty good for me, but you are right, in that I would be happier a little further forward. The cheekweld is not as solid and natural as on some of my other rifles. I've got another pair of rings (slightly lower since it's the 50mm objective) and longer risers that Ned at Mounting Solution Plus suggested, but they are not on yet. They are going on for trial at the end of the month, I'll let you know the details and range report when I try them.

Thanks. Unfortunately, it has been sitting in the safe while I've been out of state for work, getting ready to buy a house in Florida and move. With any luck I'll have some time this week to get to the range and finish wringing it out. |

Nice rifles! We'd love some information on who built them (I assume they are not authentic HK, but I've been wrong before!), how long it took to obtain parts and the build time, and a ballpark price tag.
What kind of groups do you get with those? Those are super nice!!! |

thats the exact same rifle im looking to build. How much with the glass did it cost to build?

What do you guys think about the DPMS / Panther Arms, LR .308?
Based on what I am finding, there isn't a more accurate rifle availible over the counter... even considering bolt guns. |

I have noticed consistent MOA w/wolf 62grn... never tried the good stuff because the rifle is chambered for a mil-spec 5.56. I would get a DPMS varmint barrel, and I have shot some Clark gator’s (both in .223) if I wanted to have one for super-small groups. This was done on a budget, and I can shoot almost as tight a group rapidly as I can take time between shots. It rings the steel out to 415 yards pretty well at the Hill Country rifle range here, and it does it every time I pull the trigger, no matter what. I love this gun; I wish I had 2 of them.
The SWFA 16x42Ss is VERY UNDER-APPRECIATED as well!!! |

Wow!!! |

Are the DPMS guys in this thread... there is no more accurate auto than the Panther arms .308 long-range that I have ever seen. Consistent .25MOA, its perfect out of the box, however I am having a break installed.
