I'm kicking around the idea of building an SPR type AR15 with an 18" or 20" barrel, just to have fun running around and banging steel as far as possible, which could be up to 800-1000 yards. I don't want this to be a bench rifle, so I'm willing to sacrifice some accuracy for lighter weight.
I like the profile of the Faxon Gunner barrels; their weights are very modest for the length without being pencil contours. However, it seems Faxon can be hit-or-miss, so what other barrel options are available at a similar weight?

Faxon gunner is a good profile. I’ve got a few faxon barrels with no issues and good results. I’d stick with faxon if that’s the profile you’re looking for. If you have any serious issues with the barrel you’ll be taken care of.
