Got a new Savage Model 11 6.5 creedmoor but will not chamber with factory ammo.

When I try to chamber a round bolt will not close.   When I pull the round out there are marks around the bullet. Ammo is 120gr A-max.

Sounds like the bullet's ogive is contacting the rifling.
Got any other ammo you can try?  Or an empty case?

What *specific* model of Savage rifle?

Reportedly Savage had issues with worn-out 6.5 Creedmoor reamers early in 2014 causing short chamber issues, I would have hoped they would be resolved by now.

If it won't chamber factory 120 A-Max ammo, the rifle needs to go back to Savage for them to make it right.

Model 11 hunter

It works just fine with just the case.  I sent an email to savage about it to see what they say.

A Savage with a short chamber?

Never heard of that before (my facetiousness precedes me).

Ask Savage to email you a shipping label and have them fix it

Have you tried the 140's or 129 SST's?

You can sharpie the bullet and try to chamber it, that will allow you to see rifling marks more clearly.  It is also possible there is a bur or some other material in the chamber causing the marking of the projectile.
