Just finished putting it together. Pretty darn happy with the way it turned out. The first firearm I ever bought was a T3 in .30-06 more than 11 years ago, and I'm stoked to add another to the stable. I haven't been able to take it to the range yet, but I'm sure it'll perform very well.

Specs:
Tikka T3X CTR, 24" 6.5 Creedmoor
Nightforce SHV 4-14x50 F1
Seekins Precision 30mm rings
Mountain Tactical AICS bottom metal
Mountain Tactical knurled bolt knob
Mountain Tactical hardened action screws
Yodave trigger spring
Area 419 Hellfire muzzle brake
Harris BRM-S bipod

Looks great! I have the same rifle with the nightforce shv f1. Very happy with how it shoots.

So... how's she shoot?

That is a gorgeous setup and one I'm STRONGLY considering emulating in the near future!

I've been going back and forth for the last six months looking for my first bolt gun since I'll likely be hunting soon since I moved to another state. I've settled on a this exact Tikka but not sure about the 20 vs the 24. Looks like the 24's are hard to find right now. That's a sweet rifle and I hope I can find on soon.

Any idea of range between 20" and 24" barrels?

There is about 4" between the two.

The range is likely not the issue between the two as they will be the same. The drop at any given range will vary between the two due to velocity differences. Once you have your dope the difference is almost nil. The lower velocity of the shorter barrel will also result in more wind drift. Again, once you have your dope and depending on your ability to make wind calls the difference may not be much.

I am not good enough and don't shoot at extreme long ranges so for me the difference is minimal.

The difference between 20" and 24" models is about 100fps velocity.

Thanks, any problem reaching out to 1000 yards with 20" barrel?

love it, been searching for a deal on a 24" version for A WHILE. Just curious, was it the cost of the tikka mags that made you switch to AICS?

I am also wondering if the stock came like that or not...

I may or may not have recently acquired a 24" tikka in 6.5CM...

OP it would be good to read your follow-up. That stock looks great.

I've got money burning a hole in my pocket right now and a lead on a stainless 24" T3X CTR.

So it will handle a 50mm objective with a low mount?

Nice rifle! 24" is perfect barrel length IMO, it's what I went with too. How do you like the YoDave trigger spring? How does it compare to the stock Tikka trigger?

OP you suck. You're costing me money.

Just ordered some seekins rings.

OP when your scope is set at 4X can you see your muzzle break? I am thinking of ordering some Seekins rings either in low or medium height.

Note: with low seekins rings, I BARELY clear a 50mm objective. I can't get a cap on the end.

I have Vortex low rings (same as Seekins) on my ctr with 20 moa rail, I have enough room to clear Vortex Defender caps with my Viper pst II 5-25x50. Some caps are thicker than others but I know the Vortex caps will work with Seekins low rings on a 50 mm scope.

What rail are you using? I was looking at rings and was thinking the seekins 0.97" height rings would be required with the same PST II 5-25? You're using the 0.87" Vortex branded rings and have enough clearance on the CTR? Reason I'm looking at Seekins is that they seem to be just a bit less $$ than the Vortex ones. I had expected Vortex branded to be less.

What model/size defender caps fit the 5-25?

I'm looking at getting this rifle too, but possibly using a LT-112 with a 50mm objective (Athlon Midas). Any concerns being too high?

Hopefully the OP will come back and give an update.
