That looks like a nice rifle.
Cool to see some of the manufactures offering 3-gun setups. Any word out on how effective their comp is? |

As discussed over in an AR Discussion thread, it looks pretty over compensated in the video on Stag's site but it's likely just that Mr Safari doesn't know how to shoot a 3-gun rifle. Link to that video is in the first post. |
Don't know if it's Mr. Safari or not. The video of Kalani that is being used for comparison has him using a Rolling Thunder comp. I still would like to see the Stag rifle used in more experienced hands.

That video of the shooting times writer shooting the new rifle is a bit misleading. The compensator they had on the rifle was and earlier prototype version. It did push the muzzle down way too much. Stag is working on the final version now.
I have to say I have been pleasantly suprised with my Model 3G. I finished in the Top 10 in back-to-back major matches with it. I am not saying the rifle was the primary reason for the strong finished but the transition to the new 3G rifle has been seemless. |
nice set up. It should be wylde chambered. Otherwise it is ready to play once it has optics.
I have the 3G Uppers avail at $699 ship included Stag did a great job on the upper

I REALLY want this rifle. Unfortunately, I have to wait until Jan 20 to buy it. Do you think I will be able to find one then? They seem very hard to find...

Does anyone know what the overall weight is on this rifle, I have a Larue that I shoot now that is awesome but it seems extremely heavy, I am interested in the 3G but curious how it matches up with overall weight.....I am looking at making a full time 3 gun rifle but I am trying to use a resonable budget
Thank you for helping with that.....seriously considering getting one,

If anybody is planning on ordering the new Stag Model 3G send me a PM. I have a discount code for 5% off the rifle. This was my best group this morning with my Model 3G. I was shooting prone no support but my coupled magazines at 300 yards using Black Hills 69gr Sierra Match King ammo. http://i613.photobucket.com/albums/tt219/jtischauser/Accessories/5ShotsStag1in8TwistBarrel300YardsProneoffCoupledMagsBlackHills69grSierraMatchKingAmmo.jpg the two holes on the left look larger than 30 caliber and why did the bullets not penetrate the target backer? |

Oh yeah because I shot those with a .50 BMG at 10 yards. Here us a group I shot this morning using Hornady Steel match 55gr. If u had to guess my average group is about 1.75-2 MOA from a prone position with no support other than my magazines. |

Ok, wife is a lefty, wants her own 3G rifle, but it needs to be light since she weights 120 lbs........I am thinking of the stag 3HL, and just drop that one of my lowers, do I have any other options as far as a lefty upper that is light and would work for her 3G fun ? where to buy?

thanks Jesse, are there significant weight savings between the 3GL and for example the 16" barrel in the other uppers like the 3HL?

The longer handguard the HBAR fluted 18" barrel and the compensator on the 3G will weigh more than the equivelant components on the 3HL. The 3GL should shoot softer than the 3HL so it may not feel as heavy? |
Jesse,
Has Stag started building the rifles with the new compensator as of yet? I'm in the process of having to switch mine. My muzzle goes down and right everytime I fire it making those follow up shots a bit more difficult. |

Hey Jesse,
Any recommendations for a replacement comp? Not loving the stock comp, LOVE the rifle, but the comp has to go. |

Did u drill a hole in the side and tune it? |
It didn't seem to need tuning, so it's just like it came to me. Does tuning help? The stock brake seemed to work too well and drive the muzzle too far down, the Rolling Thunder was just right. I wonder, because maybe I'm impressed with how it is, but I've never shot a fully tuned "professional" gun...so maybe it can be better?
I agree the Gun is fantastic but the comp is terrible. WAY over compensated. You have to bring your muzzle UP considerably for follow up shots. Almost like no comp but in the other direction. I was looking at the PWS comp. Any suggestions?

Thanks for the tip on tuning, Jesse. I'm going to have to test a bit to see what (if anything) I need to do. You, sir are an asset to this community. Thanks for spending the time sharing your knowledge.

Thanks for spending the time sharing your knowledge. Its my pleasure man. I am just doing what guys like Kurt Miller and Patrick Kelley did for me two years ago when I started. If we don't share what we learn the sport isn't going to keep growing. |

I shot one of these in left hand configurationnand have to agree that it is WAY over comped. Good gun tho and I told the owner I would put an SJC on it. I even let him shoot my gun some could feel one.

I just had to try one of these uppers out so I ordered one back on Feb 6th and its still not here. I guess they haven't been able to keep up on the handguards is what I have heard. Tried to call customer service and got absolutey nothing, I was told it would be to hard to check on my order.
I know Stag is a good 3-gun sponsor but this sucks. Getting ready to cancel the order!! |

That's a bummer! Unfortunately for you Stag is really busy. I just talked to another manufacturer of 3 gun custom rides and their back order on new builds is up from 3-4 to 5-7 weeks. The growth of 3 gun and the looming election is going to make firearms and ammo really popular again this year I'm afraid. If u need a ride ASAP for 3 gun give me a shout. I can help u find something to get you put there shooting sooner than later. |
I completely understand about them being busy and I think thats great. The problem I have, I was told it would ship in a week when I ordered, then when I called 5 weeks later to see whats going on, it was too much trouble to look my name up. To top it off, my credit card was charged when the order was placed.
The ONLY reason I am not throwing a complete tisy fit is because of thier sponsoring my sport. Thanks for the offer Jesse!! I'm good to go, I have a rifle I have been shooting that I haven't been satisfied with.Just wanted to try something new before the season got going. |
These are slowly starting to show up in shops for those of you still looking.....
Just ordered my 3g upper tonight. I didnt see anything about backorders or delays. Should I expect to be cooling my heels for awhile, or has Stag started to catch up on orders?
* edit to add: I ordered from a site sponsor and not from Stag directly. |
Really like what I've read and seen on video about the rifle. Does Stag offer a handguard that is minus the top rail like the JP?
You get what you see with the Stag Arms 3G. I was using the JP tube when I got my Stag 3G's so I was skeptical of the Samson Evolution unit when I first got it. It is a lot lighter and turns out I like it a lot.
If you want a smooth tube check out the AP Customs Carbon Fiber Tubes. They are ultra light and look so good you can't help but pick up chicks when using one. You can always yank the Samson tube off the gun and get what you paid for it in the Equipement Exchange because they are very popular right now. AP Customs Carbon Tubes |

Jesse are you using a JP adjustable gas block on your 3G? If so what arre the pros and cons? Thanks.

I always had a vision of a 3-gun build that I would do if I ever actually got serious about the sport. The Stag 3-gun rifle fits the vision perfectly.
For those looking for an economical way to get into tac scope or open class, I don't see how you could go wrong. |
