Social media is huge in today's marketing.  I was lucky enough to make a relationship with Stag Arms through Pete Brown and Chad Adams from 3 Gun Nation.  I simply saw a new TV show that was about to make my favorite sport, 3 Gun the most watched shooting sport out there.  So I took it upon myself to help promote the show on every firearm related place I could find on the Internet.  Pete and Chad saw that and the value in that so they recommended me to Stag Arms when Stag jumped head first into 3 gun.  My other sponsors, Accurate Iron and Nordic Components are companies whom I found whrn i staryed shootibg major matches.  I started using their products because they kick ass then I met the great people that work for and/or run the companies and we became shooting buddies abd good friends.  Once that relationship was in place it only made sense for us to work together.  So I the road I took was to get out there in the major match scene.  Get to know as many people as you can and build relationships with companies that you wish to represent.

If you're not traveling a bunch for matches the best bet you have if catching a sponsors attention is social media.  Facebook, twitter, YouTube, a Blog, forums, etc.  start helping run your local matches.  The more you're in the shooting spotlight with other folks watching what your doing, buying and shouting the more likely your gonna get noticed.
