So of the 3 guys that will be hunting with me 2 are avid hunters and the other may come twice a year. They want to shoot deer and don't like the hogs eating their corn. I like shooting hogs so it's like a match made in heaven.

Hunting on the Little Salkehatchie River in SC.

First hunt was yesterday and had a group of large hogs come in.
This is a large boar hog around 300lbs.
Taken with Barnes 85gr TSX 6.8

Nice shot man, we dont have leases up here, can I ask what it cost to get a hunting lease? How many acres?

We have just under 500 acres to hunt and depending on where and who you lease from it can cost any where from $10-15 per acre.

That doesn't sound like a hog problem to me, more like a hog bonus!

Sweet! I know some of the energy is transferred to the dirt that away but it gives so much better blood trail if you do have to fallow up.

Hunted Sunday evening and had several small pigs come in. The wind was swirling on me and I believe the sow might have gotten a wiff of me. The little ones kept coming in and then leaving so I finally took this little one.

they have those down here
for those of us who are unfamiliar with a hunting lease how does it work

is the land locked for your hunting only
can you go on the land whenever you want ..like to scout it out
do you have to give notice to landowner of impending hunts?

I need to finish my AR10 and come help you out OP.

I'm right here in Columbia and am itching to hunt for some pig meat again.

What I have is a yearly hunting lease. It allows me access to the property anytime during that year without any notice. Only the people included in the lease are allowed to hunt the property.

Might be able to do something in the future.
Right now I still have a ton of work to do getting stands set up and lanes cleared. Just finished a bridge to access more of the property.

Yeah previously  I had a large hog knock over a feeder and push it around trying to get all the corn out off it.

I estimate this hog to be over 300lbs.

Pretty sure I can help with the rimfire thing, a 30 rd mag dump with the M16 & Ciener kit should do it!

Discovered that the night hunting regs had recently changed. Now all I have to do is register the property with SCDNR and I'm good for killin at night year round.

Took this boar hog with my 338 Spectre 300gr subsonic on the first night out.

Be glad you don’t. A hog problem is just that. Those fuckers can really tear shit up faster than you can kill them.

Damn hogs run the deer off, eat all the corn I put out and root everything up.
I hope to do a few more Friday night or Saturday night hunts in the next few weeks.

That is the total, not per man? right?

If you spill a bunch of hog blood and guts does that chase away the deer at all from your killing fields or do they still come out to the feeders ?

For that matter do the deer and hogs mix at the feeders? Can you hunt deer at night? (Legally)

I have interest in how this all works but as you can clearly see I don't have a clue.

-Don't think that bothers the deer.-

-Never really see hogs and deer together. I do see deer waiting for hogs to leave so that they can come in to the feeder.-

-NO nighttime deer hunting.-
