Went on my first boar hunt this weekend and connected with this guy.  I was set up about 20 yards from a mud hole and one shot from the 30-06 dropped this guy in his tracks.

Damn fine looking piggy!

MMMM.... sausage.  I had Wild Piggy Jalapeno sausage on the grill this weekend for the family and a bunch of friends.

Getting hungy...

Nice pig. You might be in for a little bit of disappointment if you just grill him. Boars{male hogs} do not taste very good after they get above 100 pounds in my experience.

A lot of people who's first pig is a boar then go on to say that feral pig is nasty and not edible. Not true. Even boar is ok if it is small enough and even if it is starting to get a little big, marinate the meat for 24 hours in a garlic and lime marinade and it will be pretty good.

Good luck on future hunts.

Nice hog!

Also, Hoji is right, it may or may not taste real good, depending on how you cook it. Most of the bigger ones we get get turned into sausage. We cook the smaller ones whole.

Haha, not a problem at all!

Thanks everybody!  I am in the process now of doing a euro mount on his skull.

No I went to a hunting lodge and got him.  The name was "Caryonah" I believe.
