I guess this is bragging ...  but I thought you guys might enjoy this.

165 pound boar taken August 30, 2013 in Allagash, Maine with a single shot from a .50 Beowulf AR-15.  About 35-40 yards and he never went anywhere!

Also in the pic you can see a little video camera (looks like a flashlight) which is in line with the bore.  Whatever the gun is aimed at it records.  I have a nifty video of the bear going down but I have not been able to load the video onto any forum.  Sorry.

I was hoping you used a .223, but either way good job.

If I'd shot him with a .223 I'd worry that in the end he would have won.

And here I thought you were exercising your right to arm bears.

I will try to email it to you...unfortunately the quality is just fair in the original and everytime I copy it it gets a bit worse.   It will be next week though as we are headed out of town.

I have several stands behind my house here in Alaska along the Yukon River. My kids have killed over 15 blk bear with my 6.8 Stag, 110 grain TTSX, 28 grains H-322.  They run 15-20 yards let out their bawl and collapse. Biggest was 350 lber my daughter shot, posted picts a couple years back.

Indians I know downriver at Ft Yukon killed a wayward sow polar bear with .556.  Bear was wandering around the village, looking for trouble.  I saw the picts myself.

My nephew got a grizzly bear last August with my 308 SCAR, 250 yard shot running up the mnt through the spruce.

People in lower 48 seem to think bear are can't be killed. Indians around here think the best gun for grizzly bear is their grandpap's 30-30; got the karma.

Friend of mine hunts bear with 223 all the time here.  Has nothing to do with thinking bear are bullet proof.  I like the 458 socom.  Just my caliber of choice.  When I get a new rifle I want to take an animal with it.  That's all, nothing more.
