Has anyone tried 6.5 Grendel on Coyotes?  I'm thinking about building a hunting AR in this caliber and am wondering about building it in 6.5 Grendel.

Bad to the bone on coyotes! I use my 6.5 for long range coyote and varmint hunting. Longest shot I have
taken a coyote here in Carolina is 680 yards and in New Mexico just under 700. You can use it as a good deer
upper as well. I shoot a 123 gr. Hornady . I built a 6.5  on a custom Satern 20'' Barrel with a JP adjustable gas block
on a Vltor upper and a Troy for arm on a D&D lower. I have taken many more within reasonable ranges we just
like to see how far we can go when the opportunity permits. Flat shooting with a good BC I like it just as much
if not a little more than my .223 White Oak ! Waiting to surpass my .223 with my Grendal then it will be King !

My coyote rig now is a 20" hbar (5.56).  I'm looking to build a 18" 6.5 after Xmas.  I think it'll provide an excellent triple threat, yotes-deer-pigs.  The recent news about the caliber has made it an easy decision.

I have been thinking the same thing, and dumping the 7.62x39 upper.

I've had my 6.5 G 16" carbine out once but no luck calling any yotes.  I have some 95 grain V-Max, 90 grain TNT and some 100 grain Sierra HP and Nosler BT just waiting to get tested.

my recent build for yotes (and virtually anything else).  the 6.5 G is about the perfect AR-platform round IMHO.

Nice gun.  What are the specifics?

I got my lower in I'll be ordering the barrel and bolt this weekend if nothing turns up at the gun show.

basic 6.5G Model 1 Sales bolt/barrel.  had it cut back to 12.5 inches and threaded to accept gemtec 308 suppressor.  registered F/A lower (Sendra).  Leupold Hog plex.  shoots MOA or better with the cheap wolf stuff.  anxiously awaiting the steel case wolf for cheap(er) full auto fun.

Fortier had a great thread about this including very graphic pictures of the wounds and aftermath.

The Grendel works great on coyotes.  I am so ready for the steel cast and bullets for my own loads.
