Needless to say with 2 broken rear legs, I got to put it down and keep it. All this with out having to go into the woods, yet. I got 2 crappy cell phone pics as well of it. Handgun used was a bersa thunder .380 with 91 grain speer gold dots. I managed to recover one of the slugs, deformed pretty good.

My first 12 pointer.

ETA: there are a few small points that you can not see in the crappy pic that are large enuff to hang a ring off of. And no thats not me in the pics, its a friend of mine holding it so I could take the pics. ETA2: added pic of recovered slug.

You get to keep road kill in IN?

Not legal in TX.

Road kill? More like road injury, I had put it down. But yes its legal here. I just wish it was about 40 deg cooler out so we could let it bleed out all night.

Funny but true.  Do you have to use a tag on it or is it a freebee?

In IN, you get to keep them for free.  They issue you a roadkill permit.

My first roadkill permit blew out the window and I had to go back and get a 2nd one. Also the officers car overheated while we were there. Just wasn't a night of good luck for anyone.

On that .380, where did you shoot him at, and how deep was the penetration?

In the head, 4 of the 7 shots went thru its head. I hit it at funky angles while it was trying to charge at me with 2 broken legs. The final shot that did the deed was one behind its right ear that I managed while he was looking away from me. My advise don't use a .380 on something thats PUMPED up on adrenaline. With this round shot placement is critical.

Whats with that reference pic?? A nose down shot lookin familiar to something?? lol
