This post contains the latest and greatest information. It will be edited to reflect any changes, if required.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Update (11/29/22):
Propagation has been decent. We have been able to continue the nets on 40 meters only.
Due to winter propagation, we may have to do the net on 80 meters. Look for posts before the net starts to verify band and frequency selected for the net.

ARFCOM (American Radio Friendship Community net), weekly SSB Phone net. Each Tuesday, at 8:00 PM Eastern.

7.213 Mhz primary frequency, plus/minus QRM

7.285 Mhz secondary frequency, plus/minus QRM
. Most of the time we and up on this frequency, 7.285 Mhz.

Exact frequency will be posted (on the last page) before each net starts.
---------------------------------

----------------------------------
FYI. For 80m nets only (when 40m propagation is poor):
Due to the frequent 80m band congestion and multiple "rag chew" nets, it's not practical to use Arfcom frequencies on the 80m band. Net Control Station will find an open frequency and post it here.

We'll try to keep it near 3.861 Mhz, +/- QRM (usually +10, -10 Khz but not always)

We'll keep it within the "General Class" portion of the band.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Everyone is encouraged to participate. Feel free to give us your situation report.
For the newbies: This net is held on shortwave amateur radio frequencies. You need a General, Advanced or Extra class, amateur radio license and all appropriate radio equipment to participate.
Want to become a ham? Read here first. Feel free to ask any questions or post your suggestions.

The band was tough tonight.

I finally got in at the end, but I don't think I was heard very well.

I do miss talking to you all. Tuesday ARFCOM net and Thursday 2 meter net are the only 2 nets I regularly participate in. I can still do 2 meter with my HT. We moved into the new house, but no antennas yet. I started another thread asking for antenna ideas. Please read it and give me any ideas.

I noticed your absence tonight and was going to send you an IM to see how things were coming along.  I am not surprised that antennas come after setting up the house and the holidays and all!   Winter is a miserable time to do antenna work.

I slapped together a new 8om dipole but the mast was inadequate, the height was short and location I tried to rush it into was pretty lame.  It is all down now and won’t go up until spring.

Merry Christmas Sharky!

Yes, it is Monday. I'm completely lost in space-time continuum.

Anyone for a QSO? I already got the water heater on and running.

I would actually prefer 40m

I was just playing on 80m, I have been tweaking the antenna and made backwards progress I think.

Thanks for the nice QSO, BLKVooDoo. Once you left, I had people calling for another 1/2 hour before I had to take a break. Went to the house, got a drink, came back but there was an S9++ AM broadcast station blocking the frequency completely. LOL (hi-hi).

Today is Tuesday, I think...
I'll be in the shack at about 7:30 ET. Holler if you want a QSO on 40 meters before the net starts on 80 meters.

Any of you guys, who can't or don't want to check in on 40 meters, please start looking for an open 80m frequency. We usually try to stay within 10 kHz of 3.861 MHz. There is another daily net on 3.860 that starts at about 8:30 pm ET.

Parts for a new antenna have begun to arrive. Between weather and work, I hope to get an antenna in the air and join the net again soon.

Throw your call out there.  If I hear it I'll relay you in (though NC has faded to zero in the QSB again.)
