1,000 miles per watt.  I am trying to play QRP a bit during the 10m contest since there is nothing I need.  I just worked a guy in CA 2044.2 miles away on CW with one watt.  That was fun.  Now trying to work HI with two.

Phone might be tricky, I am sure I wan't bending his S-meter.  I'd give it a try sometime.  It would be fun.

1000 mi per watt on 10 is easy when 10 is open. When I had an 817 I was amazed at the 1 watt SSB contacts I could make on 10 using a "Super Jay Pole".

It is cool though.  Just think of what you can't do in life with a watt.

Did some of that back in the early 90's (cycle 22). OH to JA 10m SSB with the rig down as far as it would go, maybe 2 watts. I was however using a 5 element monobander. I remember working Gurnsey from OH 10m mobile. Ahhh, the good 'ol days. Yes, I'm old.

I remember back them working coast to coast on 10 meters with a few watts.
I used to be able to work Australia (from CA) very often (seemed like it was every day).

10 is a great band when it is open

I love 10m but when it's dead. Damn it's dead.

So we aren't talking WSPR here right? 'Cause I remember a lot of those LONG contacts like that.

Agreed, I think it's amazing!
There's nothing like 10m when it's open, except maybe 6m. :D

you can clear a million miles per watt using PSK31, no problem.

Was out playing with my new kx1 today.
With internal batteries (IKEA AAs), and a "random wire" hold up by my squid-rod, i got K0TF on 30m, thats 3649 miles, on aprox 1,5w

I LOVE CW!!!
