This is a bit of an over-estimate, but I like to keep an extra couple hundred feet on hand for when someone needs it. |

In my way of thinking, quality coax is a lot like ammo-you can never have too much
Personally I use Belden 9913, but it looks like LMR-400 is pretty similar in terms of loss. Once I got heavily invested in UHF (GMRS and 70cm) everybody told me that coax quality was pretty important. My fixed GMRS repeater site uses hardline though-that stuff was a bitch to work with  Posted Via AR15.Com Mobile |

I bought some last year for use with my EmComm box. No complaints. Seems to work fine and a lot cheaper than just about anyone online.

For 2m and up I like this stuff.
Do the loss calculations, you will be surprised at the power reaching the antenna. Poor man's hardline |

Yes I know it is 75 Ohm. You can use it with 1/12 wave matching sections for the band you want to use, use cut lengths to fix the SWR or just use it and live with 1.5 to 1 SWR. |

LMR-400 is great stuff, but I'm more interested in if the particular coax I linked to above is really any good or if it's just a cheap knock-off that I'll have to replace in a few years.
If it's any good, I'll be happy to save $0.50 +/- per ft., but if it's junk, I would rather pay for Times Microwave. |

As for 75 ohm coax, I use it for HF. I got a spool of 75 ohm Times LMR-400 for 10cents/ft.
Seeing I'm using a tuner on HF already, not a problem at all. Works great. Tried it on 2m/70cm. Was a bit too narrow banded for my taste. Went back to 50 for 2m/70cm. |
