I was digging through the closet looking for some of my radio stuff, and I found my Radio Shack DSP from way back.

Still works.

It is not a high end unit, but I am using on a regen shortwave and it seems to help some.

I usually keep it on SSB and medium bandwidth.

Still see them on eBay for $20 or so.

The DSP 40, they sold it back in the 90s.

I got one still NIB - Bought it on closeout for around 15 bucks, IIRC.

Never managed to summon enough enthusiasm for it to take it out of the box...

I use one on an old Royce CB - cleans the audio up a tad and the multiple bandwidth settings are helpful at times.

Not the equivalent of my Timewave DSP-599 but it wasn't $400 either.

I just retired mine, replaced it with a Timewave 9+

How do they compare to each other?

The Timewave is about the same age as the DSP-40, but it does a much better job with the noise reduction.

I got it off eBay, there always seems to be one on there once a month or so.
