being new, I'm not 100% sure what this does, but it seems pretty cool
so they can use their 2m rig thru a mobile internet and then the internet (echolink) calls into their repeater back home and they can pretty much comm as normal? that's badass. |

Pretty much. My brother and I used Echolink to talk while he was in South Africa. Not bad with a HT.

Echolink is pretty cool. I ran it on my 6m repeater for several years. I didn't bother to put it back up when laptop crapped-out as there are several nodes local.. the SARA repeater was one of the best.
Morning routine was coffe for me, Don in GB was going home from work, and Allan in Australia was going to bed.... our usual breakfast roundtable QSO.

I got it from Ecko back in February when he made a bunch of them. I've seen several others using it as well. Echo was taking numbers, but I think he gave up. I've been using this avatar since then when we changed to the new avatar format...
